I want to watch the melting tofu, but i cant since im stuck in some ethnic country and hulu and foodnetwork.com hate us.

i think i peed my pants when the one woman was trying to dump out the food processor. holyyyy.

Mel, I love that list! I can't believe I forgot the cinnamon sticks. I love how Bobby totally wanted to laugh in his face, but was really nice about it.

I forgot about this! She is my favorite. I was saying, "Not Erica, not Erica, not Erica...!" to the TV on the last episode when she was in the bottom.

i think i would have cried if she got eliminated. she is a hot mess!
she seems to mean well and then totally gets in her own way.
i mean calm the fork down and twist the food processor not pull up!!!

The thing is, I don't think food processor/tufu woman is capable of learning to cook. She's lacking in common sense, which you can't really teach someone. But I hope she stays on as long as possible since she's so fun to watch. She's also the one talking about Sweden, Switzerland where everyone skis in the Alps and eats meatbals.

and that crunchy is a flavor..........

Speaking of lacking common sense and stuff like that, I honestly think that a lot of people on this show are not just bad cooks but aren't the sharpest people in general. If someone doesn't cook often at all or even eat fancier/ethnic food, I understand having to learn a lot of new things, but otherwise... ehhhh? I almost never baked or cooked when I was a kid, and neither did my parents, but I was able to learn those things quickly on my own in high school!

That said, I also think I'd be all "oh shiitake!" if I had to make my own noodles.

Vyapti and I have been going through and watching all the seasons. We are maybe half way through season 2.

What kills me, as someone who bakes but does not cook, is the undeveloped palates. I understand that they are probably only eating processed foods. But I also tend to think these people only eat out at places like McDonalds. They really don't understand flavoring.

Season 2 especially seems to have some recruits with a very long learning curve.

My husband is like this! He does marinades out of pickle juice, caper juice, soy sauce, and cumin or something equally as revolting. Plus, he once thought spinach artichoke dip was green beans. It seriously annoys me that anybody can be so clueless. I've threatened to nominate him for this show before.

i thought noodle making for people who are admittedly clueless.
i mean i feel like im a pretty good cook but i think i would be scared to make my own noodles, especially using the crazy technique that guy showed. i would mess that up really bad im sure.
that looks like it takes skill and years of practice!

i love the tufu woman, i hope she never leaves.

I just watched the melting twofu episode. I think the only reason she is staying is for the laffs.

That other lady got so indignant. "You're a very confident cook. How is that possible?" Ha. I mean, does she not understand what the title of the show is?

I never heard of this series, but now I'm going back to watch all the seasons.

I wish there would be a Canada's Worst Cook. It could be like Canada's Worst Driver where you get to go home once you've improved.

why was she throwing salt on a fire?!?!? and why did she want to throw flour on it?!?!? i mean i guess i get it might smother it but it also seems like it would make a big burnt/charred mess!

I've heard before that flour on a grease fire works if you don't have an extinguisher. And she didn't have flour, so she used salt. Plus, salt or flour is less of a mess than an extinguisher would be.

i didnt realize that about the grease fire and flour. i was thinking she should just use Bobby's advice and move the steak.

and is it me or was that the BIGGEST PIECE OF COW YOUVE EVER SEEN?!?!?
do people eat a steak that big or was that piece for several people??!?!

not only was it a BIG piece it was also very thick.

The thing about putting out kitchen fires (I learned to use baking soda) is that you have to dump a lot of whatever you're using on the fire. You're trying to smother the fire. She was just tossing pinches of salt onto it.

Why are they all 'anchovies on a pizza!!?' isnt that fairly standard? I mean, I never, but in the movies and stuff...

yeah i thought that was weird too. anchovies on a pizza i thought was really common.
these people seem to be a bit "different" though
