This is a book that is coming out on 12/15. Does anyone know anything about it? I looked at the preview on amazon and it seems pretty interesting.

I can already imagine the amazon reviews for this one. "Every recipe has too much fat, salt, and sugar!"

:D I think you're right! The preview doesn't show any recipe, but it shows the index and some of them sounded really good.

I can see a lot of recipes. I actually think what people will really complain about is using things like Tofurky sausages and soyrizo. Lots of packaged foods in the recipes.

It is square and not like other books. It should be more rectangular." And then they will probably add tons of suggestions about how they would have made their junk food fat and salt free.

Looking at the visible pages on amazon, it just doesn't look very creative. I don't care if you use packaged vegan stuff - I do all the time! - but I can do my own googling and substitute "vegan pepperoni" for the meat kind or figure out how to make my own eggnog french toast /with soy eggnog/.

I was drawn to the book in the first place, because the title made me think that it was food I could make for my family get-togethers to entice them to vegan food. I will take a look again today and see if there are any stand-out recipes shown.

I made the pretzel bars (not sure what the exact name is). I think I overcooked the mixture a bit, but I still really liked them! It was very much like peanut brittle. There is NO way they'd cut nicely in squares, I just sort of broke off pieces and put them in an airtight container. Very rich and sweet.

I'm curious to hear more reviews of this book. From what I can see and what else I just assume, a lot of recipes call for prepackaged items or are simple, obvious combinations—and I expect that from a book about "junk food"—but I was wondering if there are some other recipes that are worth checking out the book for, like desserts or something. There's only one Amazon review so far and it's not so great, and blog reviews aren't terribly helpful either, because I can't tell if people are being honest or not, and they all pretty much say the same thing.

Ok here is my HONEST opinion of this cookbook... Its not worth the buy. Every single recipe could be made using any standard online recipe for the item then adding the flavors. And almost every recipe includes store bought this and store bought that. Might be good for those picky vegan kids but it just didn't cut it for me. The recipe's are creative enough if your not the most interesting hipster at the skate park but its pretty basic.

Thank you! You sort of confirmed my concerns about the book. Some of the recipes look tasty, no doubt, but I think most of them I can do on my own without spending money on the book.
Note: I don't know why I said "prepackaged" but I basically meant vegan meat/dairy analogues.

sounds like my kinda cookbook! but at this point Im kinda gettign over cookbooks, seems when i want a recipe its easier to google it than look through all my books. Many times I end up Googling up a recipe from a book on my shelves.

(that's why the specific books are good. want a cupcake? BAM! want to make brunch? BAM!! catch-all books generally sit on the shelf looking pretty, while i have my ipod in the kitchen.

Does anyone have any suggestions for stuff that actually is good from this book? My boyfriend adorably bought it for me, and I need to at least use it!

Aw dude, I would have given you my copy! I mean, it seems to be a Tofutti fest, but I actually have most of a container of sour cream so maybe I'll make something?
