I am not a big fan of raw food, but I did like what I had the 4 or 5 times I have been there. Isn't Landmark like EST?

Landmark is the descendent of EST. EST was started by Werner Erhard and was a huge deal in the 70's and 80's. EST was rebranded as Landmark.
It turns out that the reason Landmark reminded me of Scientology is that Erhard took some basic Scientology courses and is believed to have incorporated some of what he learned into EST.

I wasnt impressed with CG the one time I went, the food was boring for the price...although I found it amusing I was asked to put my cell phone away "because it weakens the defenses of the employees to the powers of the annunaki" (i shiitake you not)
but GM was forking amazing, man Im going to miss that place...good thing you guys have a million other spots to go to

Vantine wrote: Landmark reminds me of Scientology which is not a good thing. With good reason. Landmark was formerly known as Est in the 60's. The creator of Est studied scientology. Landmark is on lots of cult watch lists, and I've seen people sucked in. I love Gracias Madre, but avoided them for awhile because of their ties to Cafe Gratitude and Landmark. I had a friend who got sucked into the Landmark crepe, and she lost herself to them. She dropped all her friends who weren't involved, and began volunteering (working) for free for them so she could attend more classes at a discount rate. She fell in love with another person in the organization and had to ask permission to date from the higher ups. Whenever we spoke, she tried to recruit me. She became a brainwashed drone. I hope someone who isn't a nut job cult fanatic buys GM, because thye really do have awesome food.

I've heard talk of Smart Alec's taking over the spot and including a sliding scale burger, like the grateful bowl. I can't remember if it was my WF employee friend or someone else that said it, so I'm not 100%. I'm just throwing rumors around!

Its classic burgers, fries, and soda they also have some sandwiches and stuff. They sell meat but have a high rated veggie burger at a pretty good price

I'm a little bummed because CG just opened a branch in Santa Cruz and it's the only all-vegan place in SC... plus, we just don't have that many options, so it was pretty cool to have them here. poop. The Santa Cruz one isn't closing, I've talked to a friend who works there and he says they're staying open. If you haven't tried The Malabar (sometimes known as The Asian Rose) on Front Street you should. It's by far my favorite place to eat, yes there are a few vegetarian dishes, but it is predominantly vegan Sri Lankan food. I love going there for lunch and getting a combo plate of all the various dishes on one plate with rice for only $7. Also, they're a big supporter of organic local food which is important to me. It's family run, and I see the dad at the wednesday farmers market each week picking up produce :)
