So my boyfriend is shooting a movie in Oakland, we went this last weekend to scout locations. We are shooting 1 minute away from the Doughnut Farm and I already am picking up a box of doughnuts for the cast (and because they are tasty!)...

I am in charge of food. Since it will a 4-5 hour shoot we want to provide the cast with lunch. I am bringing snacks and drinks but I heard (read via yelp) about Hella Vegan Eats. I asked around Oakland and no one knew about them. Has anyone used them to cater? If so would you recommend them?

I've seen their name around, but I don't know much about them. If you want to get something that's definitely delicious, Flacos does catering and bulk orders.

But Flaco's does not have a menu up - unless I am missing something. :/

Vegansaurus has had some Hella Vegan Eats and reports that they are AMAZING. They were at Art Murmur last month, but alas, I was there this month, and they were not there. Sadness! So, unfortunately, no first hand experience, but Vegansaurus says good things.

We went with HVE. I contacted Flaco's first but after a few dd & confusing emails that seemed like they were put off by catering we just contacted HVE. I did not get to try all the food we ordered....It impressed the rude people on set who bitched about vegan food and went back for seconds though!

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention we had the tamales at a party and damn they were good! That's cool that it worked out.
