Damn, I should've stopped by the hfs today. Will go tomorrow, hopefully mine has almond milk. That would make me very happy.

Sainsbury's own fairtrade wines are all 25% off. I think they're all vegan except the Carmenere but the bottles are clearly labelled. They're mostly Chilean and South African and they're pretty decent.

My Sainsburys (Balham) did not have any Fairtrade wine on sale but had other wines on sale. However, I did find new Alpro milks, Hazelnut and Almond in the fridge section. All Alpro milks in the fridge section are 2 for £2.00 at the Balham Sainsburys. Those nut milk prices are so much less expensive than other brands.

I made a special trip to Sainsbury's after work for 25% off wine. Thanks, efcliz!

Did you try the nutmilks, Sandya? I bought the almond milk, and while it's ok it does taste slightly of roasted almonds (maybe from the UHT process?). Way better than the opaque water that passes for almond milk in NZ, though! I want to try the hazelnut one next.

Hi mendelian I have not tried the milks yet. Maybe try one of them with cereal tomorrow. I am always looking for something good to put in coffee and so far he hazelnut and almond milks I've tried do not do it for me. I'm from the US and really spoiled to Silk creamer.

I tried the Alpro Almond milk (on the sainsburys offer) and very impressed, works really well in tea and tastes okay on its own.

I can just say that the hazelnut milk is the bomb! It goes wonderfully in my morning oatmeal, in smoothies and makes a kickass hot chocolate!

When I was in Waitorse at lunchtime, a woman was marking a heap of the stuff on the dairy-free/organic/gluten-free/special food shelves as discounted. She told me that it was being reduced to clear because they aren't re-ordering a lot of it, and are going to be stocking new things, but she didn't know if it was just that store or every Waitrose. I got a couple of bars of plain Moo Free chocolate for £1.79, but there were stickers on Goody Good Stuff sweets, that gross fudge you all like and...other stuff (I should have posted this while I could remember what it was, but there were maybe half a dozen or so products). There may be bargains to be had in a Waitrose near you.

Waitrose has a special on the new Alpro hazlenut milk - £1 a pop for the long life stuff. I cleared out the shelf in Salisbury, and they didn't have any more out the back so I don't know how long this will last for.

Ah I didn't even think to look for the milk at Waitrose today. Since everyone was talking about Tesco I made a special stop there. Will try again tomorrow.

And yes, it seems to be all about milk, as that's what my last three posts have been about.

My Waitrose didn't have the new Alpro milks but I did get Oatly Organic 2 for £2.

Holland & Barrett have their buy one get one half price sale on everything in store.

I love when that happens! Imma buy a million cans of mock duck and then eat them one after another after another.

good stuff! I don't much like wine to be honest, but I like to stock up on a few bottles for when peeps come round and I can make like I'm civilised or something. Anyhow, yes almost all of the Sainsbury's fairtrade wines are vegan. I remember reading an article about how one of the South African vineyards they source from was the first fairtrade wine project in the world, and before that all the workers were a bunch of drunks that got paid in wine that the management had hanging around, (the management couldn't even afford to pay real wages cause they were gettin squeezed by some other big ag giant...). And now they give back some of the profits from said vineyard to local alcoholics rehabilitation programmes. So yay to Sainsbury's fairtrade wine! one plus side to shopping in a supermarket anyway.

I've yet to try that stuff. I have a can in the cupboard but think it's the word duck that puts me off...

It bares only the faintest resemblance to duck in terms of flavour or texture, but looks kind of like it. It's good in sandwiches.

I've never eaten a duck so I wouldn't know if it was the same or not. It's just the thought of eating a duck. Yuk! Maybe in a sandwich would be a good way to try.

"mock duck" is basically seasoned wheat gluten in a can. i don't think i've ever eaten duck either, so i can't comment on any resemblance, but it's not scary-textured or anything.

Tesco now has the long life Alpro hazelnut milk on sale for £1.

Morrisons have fresh alpro almond milk for £1 & Vitalite for £1.

Yesterday or the day before, Oatly was on sale at my Morrison's for .85p for the regular and £1.19 for the organic? hope it's still on today.

The mock duck in holland and barratt is more expensive than the stuff you can get in independant asian supermarkets.
It's £1.99 from H&B but from most of the chinese shops where I'm originally from it's about £1.35-50.
Plus you can get your hands on mock chicken/pork/abalone too.
I LOVE CANNED MOCK CHICKEN! As soon as you get past the fact it's in a can...... it's amazing.

Sainsbury's has Pure spread on sale for £1. and i'm seeing 99p cartons of Provamel soya milk pop up again in health food shops.
