Yeah, the ones I just found were £28.50 (single) - all the cheap tickets might have been bought. They get more expensive the closer it gets to the departure time.

Tried this one? http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/London victoria - Brighton 11:15 departure 24 pounds (edit; for a one way trip) Last time I took the bus from Amsterdam to London for 60 euro and the train tickets from london to brighton and back costed me about the same. I also got results for a 10 pound ticket but that was from London Bridge LBG and I don't know where that is in London?

On thetrainline.com you can get a return from Victoria - Brighton for £30.70. Perhaps it would work out cheaper to get the tube there than to get a ticket from Kings Cross - Brighton?

Get a single separate tube from Kings Cross to Victoria, and search for trains Vic to Brighton.
You can go from London Bridge as well. I think Brighton trains are more frequent from Vic.
And avoid the Gatwick express trains, they are really expensive.
Hope helps. Really jealous of you lot, I really wanna go. **bug sulks over mothers day**

Thanks guys! I had to make my bf use his credit card, I don't know what the problem is with mine... That's the second time recently I haven't been able to pay with it online. I'm definitely not over the limit!
Can you get the Alpro macchiato flavour over there? 'cause I have 2 cartons if anyone wants any. I also bought the new whippable cream! But it says to keep it refrigerated. Anyone want to take a chance on that? Oh and I got two large sized speculooses, the regular size was sold out.

I bought 2 new books for my Kindle to read on the train. I'm so glad I have the Kindle, because this is really helping to maximise space. Imagine how many fewer cupcakes I could get if I had to take 2 actual books with me!
I managed to get everyone's stuff that they asked for. We can work out exchanges when we meet up.
I need to pack the rest of my stuff! I'm leaving the house before 6am!

Did we actually decide where to meet? Or just meet at 2? It's a fairly big venue! Since some folks are already on their way and may not have magic knowledge machines, out front is probably best?

Yep! Good plan, or perhaps just inside the ground floor foyer? It's pretty big & apparently it's gonna rain.

Have fun guys! I'm still all mucus-y and gross, so I won't be making it down tomorrow either, but eat extra cake and speculoos for me!

Whoops.
We decided to go last minute (i.e. at 11.40am, 150 miles away), so did a crepe job of meeting up with folk. Saw a few people we know randomly though.
Driving took just over 2 hours from the Midlands, which is 1 hour quicker than the fastest train (4 hours than the fastest coach) and half the price (based on 2 people in the car - the same price if we took the coach). Gotta love public transport!
