I'm very fair-skinned, and I have permanent 3/4" dark circles under my eyes. More sleep is not an option! (Though I have them even when I'm well-rested.) A lot of other sites I've checked recommend products which aren't vegan. What can I apply which will stay on all day and smooth out and cover the circles?

I'd really like to know the same thing--good concealer was difficult to find even when I wasn't vegan. And my undereye circles are hereditary, though everyone tries to tell me it's from wearing glasses.

Totally samesies. I use an Urban Decay concealer to cover mine up.

I'm definitely going to be watching this thread. Concealer barely covers my dark circles, and I'm sick of looking tired all the time!

I have pretty awful dark circles too (yay genes!). I use Benefit's Erase Paste. It's a pretty good concealer/brightener but it's kind of crappy in that it's not smudgeproof. It stays on all day so long as you don't mess with your eyes too much.

I'm an Erase Paste girl too...only because it was the best out of bad options, it seemed (it is a pretty good general concealer). I just have a hard time finding something that looks natural and not pancake-y under my eyes. Is there a concealer color (maybe yellow...i don't know) that might help cancel out the blue-ish tones?

i have never tried benefit's erase paste, as it contains lanolin. i, too, have dark purple genetic undereye circles and am fair-skinned. i'm a big fan of mineral makeup, especially everyday minerals (everydayminerals.com). i prep my undereye area with moisturizer (usually alba botanica's very emollient lotion), then i apply a light amount of the yellow correcting concealer powder over the purple areas, then follow that up with their "intensive fair" correcting concealer. once i've finished all my face makeup, i'll apply a small amount of their "ausse perk me up" concealer to my undereye area-- it really brightens and makes me look fresh. and voila!
sometimes, if i feel my circles are über-bad, i'll apply a liquid concealer (e.l.f.'s undereye concealer and highlighter works well) first, and then top it with the mineral concealer.

i use a thin foundation under my eyes, i find stick and pencil concealers always end up looking cakey.

Not really related, but I hate lanolin. It is in EVERYTHING! What the fork?! I wish I were rich, then (among other things) I could fund a scientific study to make synthetic lanolin.

I currently use a Clinique concealer with a pencil and it works pretty well. I have huge and very dark circles under my eyes. If you top it off with a bit of powder it stays put all day.

Smash Boxes concealer works wonders. My circles are not super dark but this creamy stick blends well!

Sounds like Smashbox and mineral makeup are worth a try! Anything to get away from lanolin...under my eyes, ugh...

I use Alima mineral concealer and then foundation, with a fair bit of lotion smoothed on first to make it stick. I'm fair-skinned and pretty much permanently sleep-deprived, and it works for me!

I've used Origins' Quick, Hide! concealer for years and I really like it. (With the Estee Lauder hoopla going on, you'll have to decide how you feel about that). It won't make your circles disappear, but it doesn't smudge, cake, or crease, so to me it's worth it.
I used to fret about the circles, but now I'm at a point where I put on a little concealer and say good enough!

I have this problem too, but what I don't get is that even if it's all the same color, it just kind of looks like my face is hollowed out like a skeleton (just in that spot, though). No amount of makeup is going to change that. I've kind of given up.

If you are willing to consider a cream to powder concealer, then you might want to look at Monave. They have a vegan cream to powder concealor, and you do have the option of ordering in any of their base colors, if the one you want is not available.

I've written to find out if this Tarina Tarantino concealer is vegan friendly. http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P303312&categoryId=B70I'm thinking of trying that or this from Laura Mercier, http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P109963&categoryId=C13431&shouldPaginate=trueHere's the email I got back from them. Good Afternoon Ms. Pittman, Laura Mercier does not believe in animal testing. We do not test ingredients or products on animals, nor do we hire outside companies to do so for us. For your reference it is stated on the back of our packaging. Our Secret Brightener does not contain any animal bi-products. Thank you for your interest in Laura Mercier Cosmetics and stay flawless! I use Cover FX concealer and it's the one thing that actually does a decent job of making me not look like a zombie. It stays on all day, too.

tinglepants!: I tried the Laura Mercier stuff--do you think it's a little dark? Maybe I'm just pale, but I wasn't expecting it to be so dark. As far as I can tell the parent company is OK, too (Gurwitch which was recently purchased by Alticor [also owns Amway]), but there's different information depending on where you look.

I like the Laura Mercier concealer, it's pretty good.
For bluey shadows (someone asked before) you need orangey/peachy shade concealer to hide it. If you're ok with using MAC, The NW shades of their concealers are pink based so even though I use NC foundations, I buy an NW foundation for under my eyes. The NCs are yellow based and don't cover the shadows for me as well. I was actually taught at college to mix in some orange liptstick to my concealer if the shadows are really dark!
I also recently discovered Bourjois' healthy mix concealer (which looks vegan from the ingredients list) which is pretty good and Clinique's line smoothing concealer too.
