The alfredo sauce is yummy! I just made it tonight with half cashews and half blanched almonds. We threw in some shittakes, sun dried tomatoes, and roasted asparagus. So good!

Kweldon wrote: Normally I wouldn't replace a sauce with a powder but since it was only 1-2 tsp of sauce I didn't think it would cause a major difference and that it was just for flavor. Thank you for advice on where to find the sauce. I tried whole foods, kroger, & wal mart with no luck. I found mine at Ingles...which probably isn't helpful for someone in St. Louis. If you can't find it, the ingredients on mine seem to be closest to a normal chili sauce but with garlic and sugar. Or it doesn't look too difficult to make: http://www.vietworldkitchen.com/blog/20 ... hili-.html

I got this from the library. So far: - The stuffed shells were fine but nothing to get excited about. - I didn't love the Mongolian BBQ seitan, but I had to make my own hoisin sauce and I used soy curls instead of seitan, so with that much changed maybe I shouldn't form an opinion of this recipe just yet. - The tempeh piccata was very good, but I've never made a piccata recipe that I didn't love :) - The banana cupcakes with lemon icing were excellent (though making a recipe for 18 cupcakes is weird)
I agree with whoever said that the recipe instructions sometimes lack detail. I would have done poorly with some of these recipes when I was a beginner.
Also, could do without Neil Barnard's woo-woo health claims intro, but at least it was short.

I made the Happy Birthday cake with Bob's GF All-Purpose flour (plus the xanthan gum). And the recommended alternate pink frosting instead of chocolate. Came out delicious!
I also made the Salted Caramel ice cream off her blog with the pretzels, caramel sauce, and homemade ice cream base. Also came out great.

Made the Barley Bliss casserole last night. Delicious, low calorie, and super easy, although because it takes almost 2 hours to cook it isn't something you can throw together after work. It's very simple and old school-like something out of The Farm cookbook, for those of you who remember that one from way back when.

Made the Alfredo with cashews tonight and oh muh god, it is so good. I did cheat and add a little bit of nooch at the end to thicken up the sauce a bit. It really didn't need it, but it bumped up the already amazing flavor to new levels! But seriously though, I can't stop eating this.

The Bolognese is really good. I just posted food porn. I accidentally over-processed the "meat" but just browned it a lot longer than called for and I think it came out fine. I used a jarred sauce, but definitely want to try it with the marinara sauce from the book next time.

You guys convinced me. I "bought" this with credit card rewards points. I pretty much only spend those on cookbooks.

Made the black eyed pea skillet dish tonight and didn't really care for it. Too sweet, too salty and too thick (or something?), it was kind of like barbecue sauce soup.

I made the mushroom stroganoff, and it was okay, but not great. I wish she'd specified unsweetened soy milk, since of course I didn't think about that and just used what I had, and it was definitely too sweet.

I've made the avocado pesto pasta (a million times) before so I knew to expect that would be yummy. The avocado salsa potato skins are sooooo good. This book just generally looks lovely!

I don't know which one she uses in her recipes, but I noticed this as well, and personally I just stick to unsweetened milk in savory recipes even if it's not specified (though a particularly kind *should* be recommended to begin with). The mac 'n cheese recipe from Chloe's website calls for agave nectar, which I find strange and just ignored.

I found the chili garlic sauce in the asian section at Target (in case anyone else is looking for it.)

I made that tonight and actually really like it! Mine wasn't too thick though...it was sweet and salty and barbecue-y but somehow it really worked for me. I threw in an extra cup of cauliflower and had it with the sweet potato drop biscuits from AFR.

The lasagna is yummy! I made all of the components as stated. Even the homemade marinara sauce! I'm eating it now for lunch and it is delicious. Took some time but I liked that it was standard ingredients and will feed me for over a week (I'll freeze some portions). I think this would be a great potluck choice.

Got my copy in the mail today. Everything looks great. I like that so many things seem like fancy-ish stuff you'd serve to guests, but the instructions/ingredients aren't terribly complicated or hard to find. She's definitely not shy with the oil.

So the chimichurri tacos were good, though I prefer the taste of the chimichurri sauce in viva vegan. The Tuscan Beans and Greens soup was so easy but absolutely delicious. The portobello pesto paninis were also really yummy. The only bust so far was the penne a la vodka. It was really bland for our tastes, but the garlic bread (which is basically nooch toast with garlic) was quite good. Best thing is that my omni husband has really loved almost everything from the book so far, which is a bit rare.

I made the blueberry pancakes while my sister was here earlier today for lunch. We both really liked them and they were super easy. I threw the batter together while my cast iron skillet was preheating so it just took a few minutes. I really want to make the cashew and I think it's shitake soup with udon noodles. I've been craving that recipe ever since I read the ingredient list. I think I'll make it this weekend for myself for my Easter dinner with the fam.
