Passing my A exam and getting my masters (en route to PhD) counts as a good excuse, right?

Gorgeous! And those sound like good excuses to me, although lately I've been using every little thing as an excuse to buy more stuff.

Omg I want this! It's the short version of what Emma Stone wore to the Oscars (minus the neck explosion) ahhhhh!

That dress has my name written all over it, but I don't have enough money to buy clothes right now. Waaaah. I hope that or the emerald color are available later on.

I caved. Needed the impulsive retail therapy yesterday after a ridiculous day at work. Plus, I kind of like getting girly things to impress the significant other.

We're going to a courthouse wedding soon and I need a dress. I want this one but I think it's too casual even for a courthouse thing:

Image

But on the other hand, it's super cute BUT expensive enough that I'd need a good reason like a wedding to justify buying it. Ugh. Modcloth is letting me down, everything is too casual or too formal and the only other things I like are white, which would probably just be weird.

This just came back in stock so i got it instead:

I'm not sure that my hips will fit, but I guess there's only one way to find out. Hopefully I can get it altered if they don't, because it's super expensive to return stuff from here.

I love that dress so much! I think you could make it work for a courthouse wedding, depending on what you wear it with. Buy it so I can live vicariously through you!

I know I shouldn't be spending money, but Iron Fist has a ton of sale stuff listed, so this was only $30 and I bought it...

And I can't get the image to resize (I don't know the code for that, derp derp) and it's too big, so here's a link: http://www.shop.ironfistclothing.com/La ... 78WEB.aspx

I really want this! http://shopruche.com/orchid-dress.html Doesn't have a copyable picture, sorry. It's so pretty but I don't think I can wear it since I have a pretty sizable rack. This dress looks better on smaller chesteders. :(

As a small chesteder, I can attest to the difficulty of wearing strapless dresses when you have nothing to er.....keep it up.

a question for the euro people here..
is there anything remotely similar to modcloth in europe? i like some of their dresses and the 50s/60s style bikinis, but i don't wanna spend a fortune on postage if the stuff doesn't fit right..

I'm finally going to buy a dress that fits! I'll need one for husband's graduation next month, and I've lost enough weight that I can't really wear anything else I own. Torn between these two:

I think that's the one I'm leaning towards. I usually go for more neutral colors, but since it's just one solid color, I can probably handle it. And bright colors like that usually make my tattoos look pretty awesome.

I need to measure myself. I have no idea what size I am anymore. Mostly medium, but maybe a large at modcloth?

Modcloth is weird. It's all fairly small in my opinion. I have had to send back a few things and am a medium. I like your first option, the blue one. It's so classic and you will be able to enjoy it for years to come. And with a dress like that in one color you can accessorize more heavily, with a striped dress it's quickly overdone. Have fun!

I'm not an accessorizer, really. I think I have too much going on tattoo-wise and jewelry makes me look like a crazy person. But I think that's probably the one I'll go for.

As far as their sizes go, I know people tend to think most of them are smallish, but I've only ordered one dress and it was actually on the larger side. I think it really just depends on the brand.

I totally count hairstyles (and fancy dyes) and tattoos as accessories.
I own like 2 scarves and never wear them. Same goes for jewellery. If it can't stay in indefinitely, why bother putting it in (or on).
That said, I really need 3 non-itchy studs for my ears. Surgical steel would be perfect (and match my industrial).

So after all the indecisiveness about which dress to buy, I decided I could get a few separates for the same price as one dress, which I'm in pretty dire need of because of weight loss. I ordered these (non-dresses, sorry!) for what I would've paid for the dress. Hopefully everything fits. I measured myself and ended up buying smaller than what I guessed my measurements were.
