This is the first year that Shae has decided way in advance and stuck with a costume idea, usually he's all over the place until a few days before halloween. He's kind of obsessed with these JabbaWockeeZ dancers, so he's going to be one of those. Probably an excuse to dance all night. Silas chose a Mickey Mouse costume because ever since Disney in the spring he's been enchanted with all things mouse like. Of course we got it home and it's way too small and we can't find it in a bigger size. So no idea what he's actually going to be yet.
What will your kids be this year?

Reno is going to be a Flower Fairy. She also wants to be a Cheerlady because she sees the cheerleader girls at the park by us all the time.

i'm thinking about making felix an owl costume and going with him as the log lady. he's not at a stage where he gets halloween or cares about costumes, but he's not super keen on hats (which i think would be a big part of his costume).

Some kind of monster. Perhaps a lizard man with a laser blaster.
Plans haven't been firmed up.

The Emperor is going to be a kangaroo. We found him an awesome costume at Goodwill a couple of months ago.
I'm going to be a tourist if I can find a fannypack.

Gus will be a dinosaur. I know he won't wear anything crazy so I bought a hoodie and will sew on felt spikes, teeth around the opening and possibly a tail if I'm feeling ambitious.
Luckily Eric's everyday outerwear is a one piece bear suit, so he'll just wear that.
Our town has a kid parade where the kids dress up and walk down the street together. We're doing that instead of trick-or-treating for as long as we can get away with it!

Henry is hoping to be Thor (I say that since we're putting the costume together ourselves) and Lily goes back and forth from a cat or "piderman". So we'll see.

She wanted to be Daphne (from Scooby Doo) but she woke up in the middle of the night the other night, woke me, said "Mommy? I want to ask you a question. I want to be . . . a black cat. For Halloween." So there you go.

She does not, of course, have any idea what a flapper is, so she is accessorizing her dress with her pink cowboy boots and light-up pink cowboy hat with the flapper feather stuck in it. It's quite the picture.

my sister gave us a hand-me-down monkey costume for Dahlia. We've had it for months and occasionally she spies it in my closet and drags it all around the house, lovin' on it like its a stuffed animal. Sadly we are prolly not taking her anywhere this year, but she's still gonna wear the costume and will love it.

I like matching with Julian's costumes every year (I'm a nerd!!), this year he's gonna be Raggedy Andy and I'm gonna be Raggedy Ann. He's 3 1/2, so I'm pretty sure I won't be able to match him for much longer before he starts getting embarrassed!

My daughter is going as Crookshanks (from Harry Potter). We listen to the HP audiobooks pretty much on repeat and the animal familiars are her favorite. Neither my wife or I are able to sew and our daughter is a pretty small girl so we had a friend make her a costume to fit her. When we get pictures I will post them.

We found a pirate costume at 90% off last year, so Rowan will wear that. Next year, she'll be at the age where she can decide for herself.

We found Shae's old cow costume in the storage room and it fits Silas! Yes, totally insane that we still have it. But it's cute and Silas is a fan.
