It will absorb more quickly from your stomach than from your leg, but since it's a long-acting insulin, the difference doesn't really matter.
ETA, your doctor probably wants you to inject the levemir in your leg because you can't mix levemir and novolog. If you inject them in the same area, the novolog might interfere with the levemir. Levemir has a different pH than novolog.

It's been a sucktacular year for my health. The eye doc just told me I have the beginnings of retinopathy. Which probably isn't surprising given how long I've had diabetes, but it's still pissing me off.

SUCKS!
Every time I have the exam (I'm way overdue), I hold my breath when they give me the little wrap-up. "Your eyes look fine. No sign of retinopathy." And I say "I'm good for another year."

Look, I'm just saying:
Insulin needs a cool street name.
My suggestions: Tack (on the lines of "spike" for heroin) Eye Endo Panc/Pank/Spank
Let's do this.

While I try very hard to have glucose tablets or juice stashed every imaginable place, my personal rule is that when my blood sugar is low I have to grab the first available source of carbs, no matter what. Your brain is stupid when your blood sugar is low, and it's not the right time for label reading. Don't beat yourself up about it. Figure out what you can do to make sure you have food available next time, for yourself as much as for the animals.

I gave in to the inevitable and started the process to go on a pump. It'll take a few months, but there it is.

I've been really resistant, too. I don't want to be a cyborg and have a physical reminder of my disease attached to me all the time. It's a lot more expensive. But the time is right for me now for a number of reasons.
It'll be well into summer before I'm on the thing though. In early May, I'm meeting with my nurse to look over all the different models and discuss pros and cons of each. Then I have to meet with the nutritionist a few times to make sure my carb to insulin ratios are correct. I've never had a conversation about insulin with a nutritionist before, so this will be interesting. My experience with nutritionists as a kid wasn't real great, so we'll see how helpful this is. And then I have two more meetings with the nurse to learn how to use the thing.

Not only do I not want to be a cyborg who showers with an attached module, but I don't want to learn anything new. ENOUGH!

At least the latest models are waterproof. But I'm afraid my deep sea diving days are over.

I went to my dietitian appointment today, and it wasn't bad. I was expecting to get condescended to, and possibly harassed for being vegan. I mean, you're going to teach me to carb count when I've been doing it for 20+ years?
But the dietician said I seem to have it together and we can go ahead without much work. And the carb counting booklet they gave me has tempeh in it, which is pretty neat. So I paid $35 to be told I'm doing well.

But did you (or the dietician) call it tack?

We didn't even talk about tack! Carb this, carb that, but no meds talk.

Diabetes makes no sense! Last night for dinner, I had grits, tofu, and tomatoes. Took the appropriate tack dose. Went low an hour and a half later. Today for lunch I had leftovers. Ate the exact same portions. Took the exact same appropriate tack dose. And four hours later my blood sugar is 300. This makes absolutely no sense at all. None.

I hear you. I've been doing this almost 20 years, and I still get blindsided like that. Sucks.
I'm pretty much ready to not have diabetes anymore.

I just got off the phone with a nurse from my endo's office. Among the many sage pieces of advice she gave me: "And remember to keep taking your insulin." Well, if you say so...
