Me neither. I'd care, except the last time I was tested, I tested at the very high end of the B-12 range (865 out of the 931 highest suggested).
B-12 this, biznitches.

It's definitely A article. AN article. It could possibly be THE article. The world may never know.

Also that rabid seal scares the crepe outta me, so whatever the seal decides is "THE article", I'll go along with that.

B-12 this, biznitches. Does this mean that 931 is the highest it's humanly possible to get, or that beyond 931 you are in danger of B12 poisoning?

Mine is always great, too! One doctor was actually pissed because she was convinced I was dying from the veganisms.

I thought for sure the reference was to that article about how semen is an excellent source of B12.

I haven't taken B12 supplements, and my levels are still good. Maybe because I eat food that's fallen on the ground sometimes... Cos you know dirt is a good source of B12.

Serious questions here:
I've asked this before, but never gotten a response.
According to the article posted above, a healthy B12 dose for a vegan is one 1000 mcg pill twice a week.
According to the label, 1000 mcg is 16,000+% of your daily B12 needs.
So if I take two of these, I'm getting 32,000% of my daily needs in one week. In other words, for every day, I'm getting about 4,500% of my daily needs.
So what does this mean? Does it mean that because it's in pill form, it's absorbed astonishingly poorly? Or that that 16,000% figure is bunk?
Or...?

Taken at small doses, you absorb most of the b12. Taken at large doses you absorb a smaller percentage of the b12 but a larger amount.
This leaves you with the option of frequent (several times a day) small doses or less frequent large doses. There's no upper limit for b12, so you won't hurt yourself by taking a large dose. It just means you have vitamin-filled pee. (band name?)

So I'm absorbing only 2.2% of the B12 when taken in this form?

One more thing!
Why would I have vitamin-rich pee?
I thought our bodies stored B12 for years and years.

I thought our bodies stored B12 for years and years. Yes, you're only absorbing about 2.2% with such a large dose. The part that you absorb is retained for a long time, but that huge excess is released in urine.

I still don't get how the part I do absorb can be retained for a long time if my body is using it. Don't I use it up? Never mind. I hardly understand what I'm asking now.

I have to say, it frightens me to know that all through my child hood I was dangerously lacking in B12 thanks to my condition (I have a form of mal-absorbtion syndrome due to an abnormality in my intestines and stomach lining). I ate meat but nothing got absorbed. I took zero vitamins. I had no idea the damage my body would endure.
This is an ominous post...wow I'm serious today.
