The weather is just turning cold here and lately I am craving weird wintery food. Lately it's dumplings. I haven't had dumplings since before i was a vegan and am not sure what to cook dumplings with now. any dumpling lovers? what do you cook your dumplings in?
ETA: let me specify i don't mean chinese-type gyoza dumplings, i mean like chxxkn and dumplins and dumplins and gravy type dumplings.
PS did i use the word dumplings more or fewer than ten times? you get some sort of prize if you can tell me without going back to count. no prizes given.

The Chick'n & Dumplings recipe in The Vegan Slow Cooker is great...it's made with chicken-style seitan.

If you have Vegan Diner, I've used that dumping recipe a few times and it always works out great!

I also made a crock pot vegan chicken pot pie with a dumpling crust this past winter. It was awesome! I think I used bisquick (the heart healthy kind) and spooned it on top of the pot pie about 30 minutes before it was done, covered and then it cooked up and rose to a fluffy thick crust.

Quick question: have any of you frozen the dilly stew recipe? I want to make a big batch this weekend, but don't know how the dumplings will defrost.
