So, no one is adopting these cats. Black cats are the most overlooked in shelters. Maybe one of you knows someone looking for a cat?
Tabitha is 6-7 years old. She has been at the shelter for a year. She was actually adopted as a kitten and then returned, because the people had a baby and they said Tabitha was too stressed out by the baby. She doesn't like to be picked up, but when she's feeling affectionate, she'll follow you around and want to be petted. She doesn't like other cats, and when she's super stressed out, she might swat at you, which to me is totally normal cat behaviour. But the people who come into the shelter only want young cats who are superhappyfriendlylapcats 100% of the time, so no one looks at her.
Manny is only a year old, friendly, medium hair, and gets along with most other cats. He's a pretty laid back dude. I have no idea why he has been with us for months.
I don't know why adoptions are so slow right now, but we haven't even had people in looking at the cats in weeks! We have other cats, too, which you can see here: http://miltonanimalleague.org/available-cats.html
Awww, poor babies. It hurts my heart that some animals get passed over, they all deserve loving homes :(

I can't adopt them, but I can strongly endorse black cats. I have two, and they are the best. I hope these dudes find homes really soon.

I too love black cats. Phoebe is a black cat, and she is beyond gorgeous. Plus, it makes Halloween really exciting. Just say its October and I'm walking in a store with a friend-
Me: Oh my god! Look at this mug! It has a Phoebe on it!
Friend: Umm, cute?
Me: Look at these stickers! They're all Phoebes!
Friend: Dude you've gotta realize that Phoebe is a black cat, and black cats are iconic during Halloween....
Me: *not paying attention* PHOEBES ARE EVERYWHERE!!!!!
So in conclusion, more people should adopt black cats.

Emma was the best cat ever. I miss her so much. I will definitely adopt a black cat the next time I adopt a cat. Emma sounds like tabitha in some ways. Not a lap cat (except when I was pregnant) swatted a lot, would bite when annoyed, but so loving and protective. She was friendly with the other cats. I wish I could spend one more day with her. And now I am crying.

Also, do you think the girl black kitty can be around one other equally crotchety cat? I wish I lived closer or she'd be mine.
I think it would be best of she was the only cat. We had her fostered out for a little while, and she was SO much more relaxed and friendly as the only cat. Sometimes if another cat is out and stays far away from her, Tabitha will just ignore them. But if they approach her, she's all hissing and swatting. That's one of the main issues getting her a home, because people who are okay with normal cat grumpiness always already have other cats! And it's sad, because she is not a bad cat. She was following me around today, purring, when I was getting the cat food ready. She just needs a nice, quiet home, where she can hang out on sofas and windowsills, and bat toys around. (There's a really cute video of her playing with toys here.)

Aw I LOVE black cats. Ive never understood why they are the unwanted ones. I wish I could just be a batty cat lady and rescue the ones noone else wants. My next will hopefully be a rescue siamese but if not it'll definitely be a shelter cat of some variety (if they let me, since the UK ones have crazy rules sometimes).

This made me smile.
My friend was wanting to adopt a kitty. I'll call and see if he's interested.

I wish I could afford to adopt Manny. I think he'd get along famously with Crookshanks. I've sent my friend the youtube links. I sure hope he chooses one.

cool, i actually adopted 2 from the MSPCA in Methuen once. i got 2 senior peegs there and one ended up being just like the greatest piggie ever who i was just so in love with.
i live in Marlboro so i am always looking for a shelter that is closer than Methuen or Boston for peegs. its hard because sometimes they have female piggies on their petfinder but by the time i drag my asparagus all the way there they have been adopted.
hope you find a home for your sweet kitties! (i am allergic)
