Not working from my IP?

Since early this morning PPK (whole site and forums) looked like they were down. After awhile I checked on http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ where it said it was just me. After checking again a few times I tried through a web proxy, which worked, but it's still down if I just try to access it normally.

What was it saying? I got a thing about not connecting to the server for two days and then it just stopped one day and worked again.

They recommended flushing your DNS cache and unplugging my modem and restarting my computer when it was going on with me, so you should try those. I don't think they worked for me, though, it kind of just came back unprompted.

Hey, I'm still here. Via proxy. Just annoying because it doesn't store which posts are new in a thread or something. Still getting the same kinda error messages:

Not that I have tried restarting the router or anything. I might do that later.

Hi Melanie, I'm having trouble too.

Actually I thought maybe the forum was moving servers and it was down for everybody. Then my friend in the states said he could see it fine.

So I guess it's a problem with the New Zealand DNS and it hasn't propagated yet.

You can access the whole site by using the IP address instead of the domain name. http://67.225.232.239/forum for example.

Kinda annoying but hopefully it will fix itself within a few days.

Yeah, my worry it could be country-wide is mostly why I posted. Hadn't thought of using the IP rather than the domain, thanks!

My hunch is when they moved the servers they didn't change the DNS properly so it's not propogating fully (powers that be, can you check it out?). If you're using Windows, you could try adding the following line to the hosts file, which can be found under C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts. I'm not sure where the hosts file is on other operating systems, but same gist would apply.

You can open it with a text editor... so basic windows notepad will work.

i can only get in properly using the IP address posted above. It started at about 4pm today and still ain't working properly. I'm going to see what happens at work in the morning.

Yeah this is still happening to me, I've just been accessing it through the IP. The rest of the site doesn't really work with this though (would have to reformat urls to include the IP instead everytime). Using a web proxy also works (well, to varying degrees of success, depending on the proxy) if that helps gb.

sometimes on chrome I can't get to the site right away and i get that error page, but I just refresh two or three times and it's fine.

If you're still having this problem, try flushing the DNS cache. To do this...

Windows: from the command line or the start menu (WindowKey+R), run "ipconfig /dnscache"

Mac: Open the Terminal (under Applications->Utilities) and run "dscacheutil -flushcache"

Linux: Restart the cache daemon with "/etc/init.d/nscd restart"

If that doesn't work, try running "traceroute 67.225.232.239" ("tracert 67.225.232.239" in Windows) and post the results here.
