I'm still an episode behind, but I'll probably be caught up soon. I just noticed something about Debra Messing and the actor who plays Michael Swift. Apparently they were both married to other people for quite some time and very recently both divorced, and the two are now dating each other. No passing judgment or accusing of cheating here, but I thought that was a weird little factoid.

Whoa! So that chemistry at the rehearsal studio WAS real. I knew it.

Randi, you are adorable, but I'm kinda sad you don't actually look like Bjork. Also, yay for possible hookups!

queenofpainting, that is an interesting factoid. They always had good chemistry on-screen, and it seemed like genuine chemistry not just fake acting chemistry to me.

So excited for Uma!

Ahh I love how long ago this was shot! "Jessie Mueller is a star" sign hanging at a show that shuttered months ago. Poor Jessie, watching this, remembering how amazing she was in a terrrrrible show.

ALSO - no NYU student would EVER say "According to wikipedia, ..." in an interview. No PERSON would.

Yes. With all the hype over her being on this week, I kinda wished she would've been on longer. It would've been better for her to just be a surprise at the end of this episode and then really played up future eps.

Yeah, no good reporter would ever use wikipedia as a source. That's just bad on so many levels. And even if they did use wiki to get some base info, it'd be checked on other sources to confirm.

Oooh, liked it!

I really, really like Debra Messing's wardrobe. I want to dress like that when I grow up (29 is not grown up).

Observations:

Karen's apartment is RIDICULOUS nice. Ugh, she's so annoying. And she's gonna be SO BROKE when her annoying boyfriend leaves her.
NYU dude scene was dumb and irrelevant.
what the fizzle is with Derek making house calls?!?!
I like Uma! But what's going to happen with Ivy?

I can't get over how much I loved Christian/Tom's performance. All that matters. hahaha. He and Ivy should star in the end product.

The actor in that role just 'wasn't there' at the moment so he stepped in for the rehearsal. So contrived, but who cares! He's the best thing about this show.

Totally. I'm glad his awful redneck partner is out of the picture.

HA! I was thinking the exact same thing.

I feel like I'm just not buying this storyline right now. Why are they putting up with Uma's character? She can't sing, she's annoying, she's late...did I mention she CAN'T SING AND IT'S A MUSICAL?! I mean, they have two highly qualified candidates to do Marilyn already. Why the fork don't they fire Uma?

I mean, it does show pretty well how heavily some shows depend on star casting in order to get anywhere off the ground...but there are stars who are QUALIFIED.

Oh my god I didn't realize Dev was going to be in the Bollywood number. I am hysterical at him. Omg this number is hilarious! Ellis stealing the necklace! Ivy and Derek with the grapes? This is like every daytime soap compressed into 60 seconds of crazy.

Oh please please please not an Anjelica Huston sex scene.

Though you have to give NBC major props for man-on-man interracial loving! I am loving that!

I really love Uma Thurman, but she has a slightly alien look that doesn't work at all for Marilyn. You can stick her in a platinum blond wig and have her slink all over the stage, but she's still going to look like the alien trying to imitate Marilyn Monroe.

Did I fall asleep during the show or did they not show the "she can't breathe, call an ambulance" scene that they showed in every.single.commercial? I thought it was going to happen at the end after Ivy finished her song, and Uma was on the couch.

It wasn't in this episode. Last week they showed previews for all of the remaining episodes. I suspect that since they played up Uma's peanut allergy this week and the evil assistant now makes her smoothies...she gets slipped some peanuts and that results in the ambulance scene.

I can't take the dullness of McPhee's voice. There's absolutely nothing special about it. Her singing is so safe and boring! I have difficulty taking the show seriously when Karen is constantly blowing people's minds with what I consider mediocre performances.

Also, adding even a little Autotune to a performance just sucks the soul out of it completely. At least I think so... I dunno.

best part of this weeks episode was the sudden bollywood craziness. I wish Dev was my boyfriend. Also, that I actually had a job in theatre, because my day job is sucking my will to live.
