best vegan restaurant in san diego?

Can anyone tell me about Casa de Luz? Looks interesting, but their website confuses me. It IS a restaurant, right?

yes it is, their website blows asparagus

its vegan and all organic, I have not been there yet

Yeah, their website's all like "WE'RE A COMMUNITY NOT A RESTAURANT but we will feed you if you pay us."

I think it is because they have a big table and people are supposed to sit with each other. Alas, I have not yet been, but I do plan to go.

If it's similar to the Casa de Luz in Austin, then it's macrobiotic style and basically prix fixe. Your meal is whatever mix of beans, grains and veggies they happen to have prepared that day.

Our friend picked us up for lunch today, and when she asked where I wanted to go, trying to be as undifficult as possible, I was just like "wherever." She took us to Casa de Luz! It was great. A little pricey, but it was a ton of food. Also, what the fizzle rain.

It's soup, salad, and whatever they cooked that day. I took a picture of my plate, but I'm on my iphone, so it's all weird & difficult to post. It was some greens & leeks with mustard sauce, sesame flavored vegetables, rice, white beans, & avocado slices, except all more interesting than that sounds. And the raw cheesecakes are ridiculously good.

Also, sorry about the weather. It is freezing. I was out hiking in east county today and in addition to rain and hail there was actual snow. This better be winter's last hurrah because I am ready to be warm.

So we checked out this place, but it was a little small for our group. We went to Trattoria Fantastica (Something like that? I was kind of drunk), and I had some really awesome pasta dish that was already vegetarian, just asked for no cheese, plus like ten pounds of bread. A+ tasty
