Yeah me too. I couldn't see carmine in the things I looked at (I have a pink blusher from them which is lovely and looks vegan).

I spotted beeswax in a few things so their love heart lip balm is probably out. But the nail polishes should be ok!

I'm pretty sure GOSH's eyeliners are vegan and they have loads of colours.

Does anyone know about the veganocity of M&S or Accessorize make up or nail polish?

M&S are pretty good. They are BUAV approved and quite a lot of their stuff is vegan. In fact almost everything I picked up from the perfection range seemed to be (lipstick included). I emailed them about the lipsticks I bought and they confirmed they were vegan. If your M&S is like mine, all the products have pull out ingredients lists on the stands. They don't seem to use carmine and the lippies didn't have beeswax in. I don't know about the cheaper range though, I didn't buy anything from there.

Hello, just wondered if anyone could help with the following

1. I need a good clarifying shampoo. Back before being vegan I used a Pantene one and it would get all the hairspray and gunk out of my hair really well and quickly but I'm having to wash my hair a few times to get the product out. I can't really afford more than about £7 a bottle though

2. A good anti wrinkle cream. My forehead looks like it needs intervention quickly, I thought I'd have a good few years til I needed something hardcore but this second child of mine seems to have tipped me over the edge!

For the shampoo I like the "Say Yes To" Carrots, cucumbers etc. brand. It's American, seems to get all the gunk out in one wash. I find it at various chemists. Like one on Balham High St, there is another one in Soho on Berwick Street. You might find it in your area at a chemist that sells other natural products you can't find at Boots or Superdrug. Mine was 8 pounds but it's a huge bottle.

Say yes to Cucumbers/Tomatoes are ok but the Carrots line has honey in it if I remember correctly.

Lush Jumping Juniper is ace for clarifying, or I Love Juicy for a liquid.

My other bet would have been Carrots too but honey :( You can usually find them in Debenhams too.

For the shampoo, I'd recommend Samy - I use the pink bottles (can't remember the name of the product line) which are available in the larger Superdrug stores. Avoid the Naked shampoos, I would have to wash my hair 2-3 times each shower to get my hair clean when I used those.

For the wrinkle cream, based on their eye cream (which is AMAZING, smells like biscuits!) 100% Pure might be worth a go? Their eye cream is so lovely to put on, and makes my eyes look less rabid and swollen each morning. http://www.100percentpure.co.uk/

Whatever you go for, make sure it has SPF in it! Ward off any more wrinkles! (Do they make moisturisers with contraceptives built in?!)

Has anyone tried any of the Faith In Nature products? Are they any cop?

I second the Samy love, they're awesome and all their products are vegan.

They used to have a hairspray I loved that smelt like sweets, but I can't find it anymore.

Superdrug do a shampoo / conditioner that reminds me of pantene - that might work. To be honest, Pantene's clarifying shampoo is nothing special, was made for people who regularly use pantene, because their regular shampoo coats your hair and gunks it up. A decent shampoo will get the gunk out.

Sorry for a painfully stupid question, but how do you know if your hair is gunky? Like, someone said they had to wash it 3 times because it was still dirty. How can you tell, when your hair is wet, whether it is dirty or not?

Just tried the superdrug tea tree and peppermint conditioner and its lovely. At 99p its a fair bit cheaper than the lush equivalent which is also decent!

Thanks everyone, loads of suggestions. I used to use Samy but completely forgot about it's existence, I wonder if my Superdrug has stopped selling it and so it hasn't entered my brain.

Ps. I know my hair is still full of gunk because the shampoo doesn't foam and when I comb it, it goes weird and clumpy.

Samy are dubious in their animal testing, that they don't deny it right out and admit ingredients are tested - but that might not be a factor for everyone :)

[Partial] jokes aside, after a few crappy washes, you start getting a feel for it. Clearly your shampoo is much more reliable! What do you use?

I've emailed Samy to find out more about this, I'll be gutted if it's true. I believed the 100% vegan labels!!

Well, my hair is very dry not greasy, so I think it's probably a bit harder to tell.

I am currently using Pureology and my hair feels better than it ever has. It's expensive though, and I know it is owned by Redken, but I have a personal ethos that I do use vegan products owned by non vegan companies, I know a lot of people don't.
