Order neons from Diamond, they're vegan, and super cheap! And they don't put money in the pocket of skeezy sex offenders like Dov Charney. http://diamondcosmetics.com/on%20line%2 ... html#neons

Does anyone know about Face Stockholm? I'm writing to them now, but I'm curious if anyone else has. I love the Diamond colors! I may go with them, but I like being able to go to a store and pick up the polish. Maybe delayed gratification would do me good.

FYI regarding Face Stockholm (thanks for the email template, btw).
Hello! I'm interested in trying your nail polish, but I have two questions. Are your products or ingredients tested on animals? Also, does your nail polish contain any animal derived ingredients (such as carmine, guanine, pearl, silk, shellac, or others I haven't listed)?
Thank you so much for your help.
Best, Nicole

The ingredients look good, but did they answer the question about animal testing? I'm having reading comprehension issues.

They didn't answer the question about animal testing, but according to their site, they don't test. I still need to look up the parent company though. The email was a little strange I thought, so I was glad the ingredients were included. Plus, they wrote back really quickly, which is a plus. I can't wait to see if they have any shades at J. Crew.
ETA: It looks like they are their parent company, i.e. Face Stockholm LTD.

I wrote Ciate a loooooong time ago, and this was the response Quote: Hi Jessica, I hope you are well. Thank you for your recent enquiry. I can confirm that our all our products are free from formaldehyde, dibutyl phthalate and toluene. Also, none of our formulas are ever tested on animals. I am just looking into your enquiry to check that our products are completely vegan friendly and I will get back to you. If there is anything else I can help you with, please let me know. I waited and waited then wrote again asking about ingredients and didn't get a reply, BUT I did look up the ingredients at one point and if I remember right they looked vegan. I can't find a full ingredient list right now though, the one on the Sephora website doesn't list colorants. I'm almost positive the ingredient list I read was on the Ciate UK site, but that site isn't working right now so I dunno. I wish I did, the bottles are too cute.

Does anyone know anything about "Quo by Orly"? Quo is Shopper's Drug Mart's exclusive store brand in Canada, but I haven't been able to find much info about them. I sent a email via their website ages ago, but they haven't responded. I'd love to just assume they are safe because of the "by Orly" collaboration, but I know better.

I haven't even heard of those, or seen swatches. If you find out and buy some post photos in the nail thread, my interest is piqued!

I have not noticed anyone mention OPI which is what my collection is mainly comprised of, so I googled it and found that with the exception of some discontinued colours OPI polishes are vegan friendly containing no animal ingredients and not tested on animals. Yay!

OPI isn't mentioned because they were bought by a parent company who does test, some people still wear them and some people avoid them.

I wear OPI - they state they do not test still after the buy out. Sally's is Owned by L'oreal & people still shop there.

Interesting, I had heard rumours of a takeover but wasn't sure if it had happened. Coty is it? I'm a nail tech and have about 100 bottles of OPI. I really love the brand so I hope they continue not to test. I know if the profits go to a parent company that tests it is a murky ethical area but.. if I switched to Orly I would have to get it at Sally. I have tried to love SpaRitual but I don't... it's thin and streaky. I suppose there are other options. I will think on this. Very useful thread for me. Glad to see there are many other nail loving herbivores.

As far as I know Sally's parent company is Sally's Beauty Holdings Inc. They spun off from Alberto-Culver in 2006 to be a stand alone company. Just last summer Sally's Beauty Holdings settled a lawsuit with L'oreal over allegations that some of Sally's subsidiaries had breached contracts with L'oreal over Matrix products. From what I understand they are two separate cosmetic giants with many subsidiaries under them but no indication that Sally's is under L'oreal.

Yeah, I've never heard anything about Sally Beauty Supply being owned by L'Oreal. I thought Sally Beauty Supply/Cosmoprof was it's own company.

Are all W&W polishes vegan or only certain lines? I think I remember reading about one line that wasn't vegan.
And wait, is Sally Beauty vegan or do they still test? All of this stuff confuses me.

Sally Hansen is owned by Coty who test. Sally Beauty Supply don't test. I don't know if the mini Sally Girl polishes are vegan or not, but Sally's Fingerpaints line is vegan.
All WnW polishes are vegan except Fast Dry-How I Met Your Magenta and Fuchsiarama, both contain Shellac.
