So we as a couple go to Gracias Madre ALOT. And I just cannot afford to do Millenium right now. But it's the hombres birfday ( I made Pie in the Skys Key Lime Pie and my own carrot cake madness) and I am stumped to think of anywhere else to go to in SF. Little help?

Saha!
eta...I guess Saha is pretty pricey too. I really like Mandalay in the Inner Richmond. The food is on par with Burma Superstar but it's less busy and maybe a bit less expensive. You have to ask for stuff to be made vegan, but they are fine with it and knowledgeable.

Encuentro in Oakland is fancy and cheap compared to Millennium.

Saha (SF), Gather (Berkeley), Encuentro (Oakland), we just had a nice meal at Mua (Oakland) last night. I've heard good things about Plum (Oakland).

Most of my favorites have already been named, but I'd pitch Dosa in the city as well.
Also, though the dinner isn't as fancy, I'm a big fan of the Hayes Valley Patxi's/Smuggler's Cove date. Makes for a good celebration!

AFter Smuggler's Cove you can go to the new Lers Ros on Hayes between Franklin & Gouh -- yummy Thai food. Make sure to tell them you're vegan and they'll make stuff without the fish sauce.

Gather, Encuentro, or Minako. I haven't been to Divino, but it looks good.

Greens is good too. They'll always make something vegan. And they always have a vegan dessert, usually some sort of tasty cobbler...
