here's a couple links explaining "black dog syndrome" im sure you can replace the word dog wtih cat and have the same phenomenon for cats. plus some people may be superstitious about black cats

Good news! Manny got adopted yesterday! All of a sudden, we had 3 different people call, saying they had seen his picture online and wanted to adopt him. So, thank you to everyone who shared his pic!

Thanks! Tabitha is at the vet today, as she was with us so long it is time to update her vaccines. I'm really hoping May will be her month and she'll find a new home. She has been being more affectionate lately. She doesn't usually sit on your lap, but if you sit on the ground, she will purr and rub against you. Sometimes when I stop petting her, she will stand up and put her front paws on me and look up at me, like "Hey! More petting please!"
I really hope you find a home for her! We love our black kitty to pieces. He is so sweet and wicked looking, it rocks. I love it when he shuts his eyes and you can't see any features on his face at all. It's so cute!
Black kitties are awesome, what the hell is wrong with people!

Two for one!
This is Captain Crunch:
This is Franklin:
They are in looooove!
They have their little spats sometimes, but they are inseparable.
Captain Crunch is super outgoing and friendly. Franklin is what we call a semi-feral. He is very shy and frightened of new people. It takes him a long time before he trusts someone enough to let them pet him. Obviously this makes him a difficult adopt. He and Capt. Crunch have really bonded, so we are hoping to find someone who will adopt both. They would get an affectionate, playful cat with Crunchy, and know that they were really helping out Franklin by giving him a home. Adoption fees will be reduced, so they are literally "two for the price of one".
