In the golden olden days, I could go to the board after a week of not posting, and I'd still be logged in. Now I go away for five minutes and I'm all logged out and junk. I feel like I'm in HELL.

Click the "keep me logged in" or whatevs button. I've never had a problem. Not once.

I click that box too and I still have to log in. My browser remembers the password, of course, so it's just two extra clicks, but those two extra clicks are excruciating!

I don't think I've ever been logged out without actually clicking the log out link. What kind of browsers and what OS are those of you who are experiencing this running?

Definitely happening to me, too. I am using Safari and am on 10.5.8

Maybe you guys have shitty settings? Mine keeps me logged in at home, but the work computer always logs me out.

Isn't that lovely! Everyone (thus far) having problems with cookies are on Macs!

In all seriousness, this isn't the wrath of an angry god punishing the sinners. I quite honestly don't know why your macs would be dumping your login cookie every 30 seconds. I assumed macs operated like normal computers but apparently they exist in bizarro world where your computer hates you.

I asked what browser and OS everyone was running to try to pin down if it was a certain combination affecting people. Apparently that combination is Mac and Firefox. I don't know enough about how cookies interact with different OSes and browsers to fix anything on this end, so I will give some super-generalized advice.

1. Dump your cookies, flush your cache. In Firefox (on a PC, this may change on your Mac), go to the Tools menu, then Options. Go the Privacy tab, click "remove individual cookies". Click the button "Remove All Cookies", then Close. Go to the Advanced tab, then the Network tab below it. Click "Clear Now". Click the "Exceptions" button and make sure the PPK isn't listed.

2. Update to the latest version of Firefox. The easiest way to do this (once again, on a PC, may change for Macs) is to go to the Help menu, then Check for Updates and follow the menu that pops up from there.

3. Try a different browser. Obviously Firefox and Safari are causing problems. If you're not personally (or professionally) attached to them, I recommend Google Chrome. Maybe even Opera would work better.

I had it set to dump cookies every time I close firefox. and I forgot to add theppk.com when we switched over.

Ok, ok, who forked with shiitake so that now I get some crepe that makes me log in when I'm logged in??
For example, I can see that I have a new message, so I must be logged in, but it asks me to log in...
Is this punishment for making fun of those who had login issues? If so, I apologize profusely.
