We've done several monthly meet-ups at restaurants and a few pot-luck picnics around the San Jose area. Greyresq, I saw that board game event and it really wasn't up my alley either. I'm in my mid-20s. I'd be interested in non-food activities. Maybe we can organize a PPK hike or something. Is anyone available for a South Bay meet-up in May or June?
Alin, I've never been to Jin Sho. I'll have to check it out! It seems like you've scouted out most of the good places in PA! Have you been to Loving Hut or Fraiche? My lab is about 5 min from Ike's and I have been splurging on the "vegan Chelsea Clinton" a lot lately. I also like the sorbet at Gelato Classico, there's a Caribbean place and a Mexican place (Reposado) in downtown that have vegan entrees, and the Hobee's by Trader Joe's is pretty veg-friendly. I've been meaning to get some Scream sorbet and vegan tamales from the PA farmer's market, but I usually don't get here early enough on weekends. I also want to check out Tamarine but I've been saving it for a special occasion. If you ever want to grab a bite during the week, let me know!

Reposado looks so cool, I'm happy to hear they've got some stuff for us. I will definitely try it out. Fraiche is the frozen dessert place that's always super busy? There's vegan yummies!? I must try it. I've got my eye on Tamarine as well. Loving Huts give me the heebie-jeebies but I'm sure I'll try it out since there aren't too many options around here. Not to complain because there's much more than some cities. I teach in the evenings, but can always meet-up for lunch. I have a weird 6 hour gap in my workday right in the middle of the day.
I too am only busy on the weekend of May 20th. I can't do anything physical like hiking, but I can meet up with you guys later and EAT. Maybe on June 8/9?

June 8/9 sounds great. Who else is interested?
Couroupita, I went to Tamarine for lunch today. It was good, but only because I was treated by a friend. Definitely not worth the price ($70 for two people at lunchtime), but great service.

I went to Ike's today and OMG. My goodness. Shared a Meatless Mike (meatball sub) and Vegan Pilgrim (turkey, cranberry sauce, sriracha and cheese) with a friend. Incredibly amazing sandwiches. I want to try the Chelsea Clinton next time. Avocado and French dressing, yes please!
What shall we do on June 8/9? Where shall we go? I'm excited!

Hey, I went to Ike's today too! I am a creature of habit and always get the vegan Chelsea Clinton now.
Sunday, June 9 works a little better for me. Do you guys want to try a new restaurant or have a potluck?
Oh, Alin I forgot to mention there is a cupcake shop in the Stanford Mall that has a vegan red velvet cupcake. I think it's called Sprinkles. It's a little greasy but still it's cool to have a vegan option!

The Sunday works just as well for me!
My fave at Ike's is the Tom Brady. I keep meaning to try the meatball one though. I've only been thrice. I need to get to Ike's more often.

Hey gals! I love that there is always something fun brewing in this thread! June9 is my birthday, so I'll be busy, but if you do end up getting together on Saturday I might tag along too! I'd love to see everyone!

Happy happy birthday, Amey! Hope you eat lots of vegan cake!! We should organize a meetup with the SC peeps soon! I was wondering if any of you guys had ever gone to the weekly veg dinners held by the peninsular macrobiotic community? If not, would anyone like to check it out with me sometime? They're Monday nights at 6:30 pm in Palo Alto for $15/person and sometimes there's a speaker after dinner. I've been meaning to go for ages and ages but it sounds like a lot of the people already know each other so I felt a little weird going solo. Here's the yelp review. Looking forward to seeing everyone in June!

Does noon work for everyone on the 9th? The macrobiotic meetup sounds neat but it would be hard for me to get over there by 6:30 - if you guys go, tell me if it's worth skipping out of work early!

I'm confused what day the Ike's thing is happening. We said the 9th and Sunday, but Sunday is the 10th.

You're right! Either the 9th or 10th works for me.
