I didn't see a general thread to post pics of our gardens. This was the first year I have ever had my own garden! I am hoping the deer don't decide it's their garden. I am growing a few varieties of lettuce, spinach, arugula, peppers, bok choy, kale, strawberries, rosemary, catnip, lemon balm, chamomile, sage, thyme, parsley, basil, cilantro, and dill. Maybe I forgot a few things. I have no idea what I am doing and just hoping for the best. I am putting up bird netting tomorrow.

Cute! Raised beds are the best, too---a lot of things grow like magic in them.

My garden for my alternative agriculture class! Front to back: Nasturdium (not quite yet there) Arugala (behbes) Carrots Onions Turnips Lettuces (Butter and a Red) Broccoli and Cauliflower Itty bitty lettuces (romaine and red) Basil (just planted) Green beans in the middle, caged On either side pepper plants (bell) Back left is a patch of flax (needs to be thinned) Backer left are potatoes, with more to the right of the flax Back right are sugar snap peas! Very back are baby sunflowers! We still need to plant tomatoes, calendula, dill, cilantro, and maybe some squash if we have the room!

i can't post pix of my own garden because we abandoned it this year due to the impending move.... but in the interest of porn, i dug through my old photos from my first visit to Brazil to show you: pinies in my uncle's garden!! surrounded by bitter melon/goya/nigauri By torquevegan at 2012-05-08 baby pinies i saw at a garden show! they are the size of walnuts. By torquevegan at 2012-05-08 my uncle's garden, which i aspire to some day. sugar cane, 7 types of citrus, bananas, sweet potatoes, yams, corn, collards, lots of herbs, peppers, okra, several types of greens to be eaten raw..... By torquevegan at 2012-05-08 By torquevegan at 2012-05-08 and just cuz she's so cuuuuuute, a 6yo FishyChips grinding coffee that grew there, that we harvested, roasted, and then ground, and then drank (holy forking caffeine levels off the chart, but damn good) By torquevegan at 2012-05-08 gardening in brazil is about 80% of the reason why we moved here.

And now I want to move to Brazil... Except probably more on the order of Chile or Costa Rica because I don't speak Portuguese...

I love the pineapples! My mom grew one when I was younger. It never had any babies tho.
I did just get a banana tree. Its growing really nice and seems happy! I love the big leaves.

Bigger and happier! This picture doesn't show the potatoes or peas that have gone NUTS in the back. Ants are really going after the arugala, which is pissing me off a lot.

Herbs, two basil pots, dill, parsley, oregano, rosemary, and cilantro And here is the garden! I've got a ton of stuff in here. We did square foot gardening and I'm not sure if we did it wrong or if the book was wrong. But the pumpkin is taking over!

I have some space to do gardening now so I've taken a million (40) cuttings and made a little house for them out of an old fish tank. Hopefully some of them actually grow.
