The chief of police here is an idiot for sharing information about evidence to a news paper, even if it is the Trentonian.

Your link didn't work for me :-/ How does one turn silver into $100K? Do you just deposit it at the bank like a check?

I think it is odd that he Sheriff Overshare is basically saying that they didn't leave any evidence, and that, oh well, hopefully they don't come back because it's going to take a miracle to catch them!

I assume they plan on selling it, though I have no idea where to? I'm pretty sure that they catalog the antiques of value so that if they are stolen they can be identified as such. OR maybe they plan on melting them down to create a stockpile of werewolf killing bullets?!

Copper theft is going up in Southern Cali: Quote: Copper wire theft has been on the rise. Riverside County sheriff's deputies arrested two Riverside men on suspicion of stealing about $30,000 worth of phone lines in Rubidoux on June 30. About 150 copper wire thefts have been reported since January in San Bernardino County, sheriff's officials said. It's also extremely dangerous. Recently a man was electrocuted to death and his wife badly burned while their two kids were sitting in the car. Where do they sell the copper to?

Salvage yards, most likely, who then resell the copper to contractors. Come on, man, haven't you seen The Wire? That was Bubbs' whole racket, at least before the giant tee-shirt thing. I think copper theft is rising in general across California, due to new plumbing regulations that require all new work to use copper piping for health reasons. Demand spiked, supply dwindled, and construction lots would be cannibalized at night by people looking to make money.
