My apologies for the horrible quality of my pictures.
Front yard may 2012

The circle around the square and bare spot near the left are the old garden shape, which hopefully will have grass around them in a few weeks.
The left side of the horseshoe box will have cucumbers and butternut squash. There's a cherry tree in it too. The front of the horseshoe by the road has all the pretty flowers- tulips, daffodils, bachelor buttons, hostas, lillies, irises, beauty bush, and a pear tree. The right side of the horseshoe will have canteloupe and zucchini. There's a cherry tree there too.
The box in the center is the herb garden- oregano, chives, sage, and some mystery herbs that no longer have tags.

Backyard veggie patch (roughly 12' x 24'). In front of it there's some rhubarb poking up, and on the other side there's some grape and kiwi vines that are still very small.
This year on that patch of dirt there will be: Tomatoes, eggplant, carrots, radishes, beets, broccoli, kale, mesculan mix greens, swiss chard, and peppers.
In the front yard there's also big planters with strawberries it them.

On my wish list still- blueberry bushes, blackberry and raspberry vines, and asparagus.

I really like the shape of your new front garden. I also like how the raised beds better convey a sense that you're surrounded by plants.

ALSO: what varieties of apple are you growing in your backyard? I ask because it's imperative to secure this information before I invite myself to live in your garden.

It's a mystery! Same with the cherries and herbs. My mother went and got fruit trees and herb plants for decorations/center pieces for our wedding reception. Most of the tags were pulled off. Then we planted everything and hoped for the best!

Can't wait to see how everything grows! I just planted my garden yesterday, will have some pics soon :)

I love how the horseshoe garden looks, my luck I'd get everything on one side and leave what I needed most on the opposite! I hope you post pictures when everything gets filled out. I especially love the fruit trees mixed into the bed.

Do you have any problems in your back garden with getting enough light? I have really tall pines on one side that I worry will shade out my garden.

We had trouble with it last year, but it was easily solved by cutting down the dead trees next to it. The sun comes from where I was standing, so it works out pretty well. That's the main reason I wanted a garden in the front this year- it get full sun all day long.
