Also! For those of you who love this show and have not yet watched Friday Night Lights (or am I the only one?), it's now on Netflix streaming and you should check it out. It's also helmed by Katims and it's very similar in the way that it portrays those very real, intimate moments, and the acting is superb. I'm only on season one, but so far I think it's better than Parenthood.

I was soooo sad when that went off the air. Have they even shown the last season on regular tv yet? They showed it on DirectTV channel.

FNL was pretty much the best show on network television.

Is the show being renewed for another season? The finale was crazy rushed, only an 18-episode season vs. 22 episodes for season 2, all plot lines sewn up in a neat little package, ratings low (though higher than other shows on the network), no mention of season 4 on IMDB... Could be bad news on the horizon.

Overall, I enjoyed Parenthood. It's sappy in that WB/CW way. Fairly predictable. Doesn't hold a candle to FNL, but I appreciated the crossover casting.

Ummm, I never ever thought I'd say this, but: I think I kind of want to bone Ray Romano.

heh, i was just thinking the exact opposite. i love parenthood and i hate ray romano; i really resent his presence and i will be furious if he becomes sarah's new boyfriend. FURIOUS I TELL YOU.

I usually hate him too! That's why I'm so confused by these feelings. But I thought he did a good job as that character, and I have a thing for aging, bespectacled curmudgeons.

Ditto this. They had no chemistry. None. Its a waste of Lauren Graham, who is so sexy she can make chemistry with nearly anyone. The few jokes about Mark being too young ("is he a Make A Wish kid") or that he could photoshop him out were funny enough, but I don't want to see their lack of chemistry on a weekly basis.

Mark and Sarah seem good, but obvs his insisting on being in the family portrait is a Portent Of Doom. Its also kinda whiny and out of character for such a low-key guy. The big off-note for me was that last season Sarah was all "ERMAGAWD I am too old to have a baby!" but now all the pressure is off and they're waiting for Drew to graduate before getting married and then babymaking.

I thought the Victor story-arc is interesting. They are doing a really good job with the idea of how you integrate an older adoptee into an existing family. I think the writers are good enough to handle this very challenging storyline well...

We need more Camille and Zeke.

Loved Haddie coming back for a proper goodbye.

I thought it was a pretty interesting premiere. I was shocked as hell, though, that Paul McDonald aka Mr. Bigteeth mcAmericanIdol was on the first episode of the season! I didn't know he was going to be,, and I didn't even know he was an actor. Like his singing, though!

I totally didn't hate Ray Romano, but I think I've never hated him. I just HATED his character on everybody loves raymond. He's not that bad himself. I thought it was funny though...why would a self proclaimed misanthropist become a family portrait photographer? ha! It didn't seem at all like they were setting him up to be her boyfriend to me.

Do you think Drew's girlfriend cheated on him? We only saw her for a second, but their interaction was weird.

I like the Victor story arc, too.

I hate when Adam overreacts to stuff like he did in this episode, but it was cool that he seemed to "get it" when amber confronted him about it.

I thought Amy cheated on Drew too. "OMG I missed you." "Oh.... yeah um, I totally missed you too..."

I love this show, but sometimes it gives me anxiety. Especially in the scenes where every single person is talking/arguing. I usually have to mute it at that point.

Also, HUGE FNL fan. Mmmm, Tim Riggins. I actually got to meet Taylor Kitsch, Connie Britton, Jesse Plemons, Scott Porter and Michael B. Jordan a few months ago. I was geeking out hard core.

I thought the Kristina and Adam story lines were good this week, and loved the two minor storylines with Julia and Victor and Crosby and Jasmine realizing that they needed to synch their schedules.

I am a bit sad that they gave the breast cancer story to Kristina and not Camille. I feel like Camille is such a great character and to see the whole family pull together for her would have been great. Kristina and Adam have all the screen time these days, and while I love Monica Potter, because she is amazing, I'd like to see other characters' show their ranges too. The wordless way they told us about the cancer was so well done though.

Liked Max losing it about the puppy. I think its a set up to have him have a more significant violent outburst.

And Funky Town!

Loved Julia and Victor. Loved the actor playing Victor showing his kid side come out after being so touch and seeing Julia fall in love with her son. Also, so cute Joel not letting Sydney pull the same crepe.

Sarah and Hank have no chemistry. Please stop inflicting them on us.

And I think it is such a bad idea for K&A to get a dog, if A can't even find time to shower...... Funky Town!

I was a little pissed they had them go to a breeder, but then glad at the end when they ended up at a dog adoption place. I also agree the wordless way they did the cancer scene was pretty powerful and well done, I got a little teary.

It strikes me as such a lost opportunity to have Kristina have Nora, and then shunt Nora aside, instead of exploring all the natural drama of parenting a baby - who gets up at night, the travails of breastfeeding, debating who to leave her with and what childcare options they have, discussing how to introduce food or childproofing. There is a ton of real drama in parenting that they aren't exploring (and that no show on TV does well (don't get me started on Guys with Kids)), and instead they're going to give Kristina cancer.

For a show called Parenthood, it seems like a pretty big fail. But it might get Monica Potter an Emmy.

I'm kinda bummed with the breast cancer story line because i like other characters a lot better. I was SO annoyed with how adam was acting at the breeder, but glad they went to an adoption place at the end. I just feel like the breast cancer thing is super emotionally manipulative. I agree tofulish that it would have been a more interesting story for camille to have cancer. I guess maybe they wanted an excuse to have haddie be on the show?
