I've never heard of/seen this book, but these recipes look amazing!

I am so overwhelmed by this book, in such a good way. I'm going to spend some quality time with it this weekend, and hopefully decide on some more recipes to make!

I want a deep fryer, just for the recipes in this book. I never thought it would be something I'd want to buy, but these recipes sound so amazing! And you just can't get the same results from baking. Dilemma!

I'm currently eating one of the cinnamon sugar donuts from this book. Yum. (And actually pretty easy to make if you have time to wait for them to rise).

My monster appetite is telling me to buy this, but I am going to try to wait until after Christmas. It's not like I don't have a ton of other vegan cookbooks to keep me busy until then (but I want it NOW!).

hearty food is definitely my style of cooking. here's one recipe i've tried so far (along with other foods not included in the book).

recipe review: clear directions, simple ingredients, easy process. the recipe didn't yield the total amount of burgers however i may have been skimpy with my measuring. they held together well in the pan.
taste: there's no better word for these burgers but hearty. and yummy.
would i make this again?: definitely

I made the eggplant parmigiana today, which also includes a recipe for mozzarella and one for parmesan. All three are outstanding.

I made this yesterday using Daiya instead of making the mozzarella. SO GOOD!!! It was very easy too.

I am still loving this cookbook. The chicken fried steak/gravy is so awesome. Also the breakfast bowl with tots, gravy, tofu scramble, etc. was a major hit at home this weekend. I think I am gaining weight from cooking so much with this book! Must. get. a. grip.

I think my sister is going to get it for me, I can't wait. If she doesn't get it for me, then I am ordering it on December 26.

recipe review: i'm repeating myself but again this book delivered clear directions, simple ingredients, easy process. the recipe is used again as a serving suggestion on other recipes in the book which is a great, great perk. the back of the book's index makes the recipe hard to find because it's cited in a few locations.
adaptations/changes:
i reduced the amount of smoke by 1/2 tsp.
taste: much better than any other fakin' bacon recipe i've tried
would i make this again?: planning it again w. scrambled tofu

{seen below on the top right obviously}

I love your reviews and pictures veganwonder. I made the tempeh bacon this weekend too and used it in the tempeh and pesto sandwich. I was really happy with how easy the bacon was to make and the sandwich was nommy (and fairly healthy too).

thank you! i will have to look at the pesto sandwich for future. unfortunately this next review is weak. even the picture was a fail : ( i'm pretty sure it was my error for not filling the tins according to the recipe's directions (2/3 of the way).

recipe review: cappuccino muffins
adaptations/changes: i halved the recipe, overfilled my tins, and then realized i need more batter so i had to do a full recipe. the batter overflowed in the oven & it was a huuge fail. so, i ventured to make them again but even still they rose too much. the fail is my error and doesn't reflect on the recipe. what i can say is that the batter is much thinner than other muffin / quick breads. i love the mix of coffee w. chocolate chips.
taste: the crumb is delicate to create a cakelike muffin. can't comment to much here since the first overflow was more of a molten cake than a muffin.
would i make this again?: three times a fail? not for me. i will choose another amazing recipe from the book like the orange cream cheese muffins!

I made the meatloaf (on a recommendation from my MOM who loves this recipe and makes it once a week!) and the hemp-almond parmesan. BOTH ARE REALLY GOOD! The parmesan is awesome on broccoli. I think I'd make a few changes to the meatloaf to make it more like my mom's original recipe from when I was a kid (fresh onion, vegan worcestershire sauce, ketchup on top as it bakes), but I just ate the leftovers for lunch and it is even better after a night in the fridge.

Has anyone made the graham cracker cake? I want to but I am horrible at turning cakes out so I was thinking to make it in a springform. That should be okay right?

My husband requested the beefy cheesy mac last night. I did just slightly alter some of the ingredient amounts this time but it's a fabulous way to cook pasta and great comfort food, even served on a bed of greens.

I wasn't crazy about these either, but the blueberry ones are so good. This book has had some real pleasers for me, but I can't imagine calculating the calories.

Have you checked out the soup/stew section? Those recipes don't look like they have a ton of calories. In general I don't think the recipes in this book have more calories than those in any other cookbook.

Made the Potato & Chorizo Lasagne Bake (I think that’s the name) on the weekend, it was really good! I was little iffy about the olives and capers but it really made the dish work. I used the tvp chorizo recipe which is also fantastic. The hubby loved it and said if we ate stuff like this all the time he’d never miss meat.

I need to cook more from this book. I've made a few things that have been good I just haven't gotten back into cooking much since my move. I need to try that tvp chorizo.
