No reservations stresses me out but if someone (hopefully a Washingtonian?) can get there early we would probably be okay! Let's do this thing!
ETA...Totally doesn't have to be Wallace Falls. I understand that that's pretty far for California people!

Is it no reservations or is it just full? We'd need to figure out how many sites we'd need and make sure we could grab them. I'd be hesitant to go without because it seems places here are packed and if people come in days before they'd already be taken.

I see. Wallace Falls has only two walk in tent sites that are not reserved and about 5 cabins that are reservable.

Oh...that sounds kind of problematic. Are the cabins expensive?

They seem to be full up. I had some problems navigating the site though, so someone else might have more luck.

oh, oh, a late register of interest... i am in nor cal, in mendocino county, and washington might be doable for the hubs, babe and i, we were planning a trip to a as yet undetermined wedding sometime that month. If the wedding and a veganstock align it would be amazing.

Our east coast gatherings usually have us at the campground in the morning (obviously), but we often drive to adventure such as hiking of waterfalls or water slides for the day and usually at camp early enough to get a fire going and cook up a big meal for everyone that night. We've had from 3-4 campsites, depending on how many people show. Usually about 4-5 people per site since 8 is really pushing it for 2 tents. So we can always take a drive to hike up a waterfall even if we don't camp at one.
I'm trying to go through some of those sites now.
We need to start getting a firm number of who could come if we want to reserve sites, if we have enough tents, etc. It's most fun if we can camp next to each other. It looks like most interest is from Canada, WA, some Oregon, maybe CA. Washington state seems to make sense.
Who would be a definite yes for the second weekend in August, Friday 10th through Monday the 13th? And how many nights would you be there? We can get creative with number of spaces depending on when people need to come and go.

There's a park called potlatch that appears to have a number of open sites. It's about 2.5 hours north of Portland, not far from Olympia. Anyone have any details on it? I'm looking at other sites but a lot are full or they only have a few sites available that are not together.
There's also a place further south called Seaquest that has some spaces together. It's a little over an hour north of Portland.
I'm just throwing in Portland distance to give people an idea of where stuff is.

Potlatch is nice! I haven't camped there since I was a kid, but it's in a pretty spot and has some of the warmest water on the sound because it's so sheltered. I've never been to Seaquest.
We can for sure do that second weekend in August but might need to leave Sunday night. I'll have to talk to my husband. And we have an extra 6-man tent people can use.

yeah, we don't have to be there those 4 days. I just wanted to throw up some dates. We usually have people there from 1-4 nights. Whatever people can make it for is great!
I personally have no tent and will need to get bunked with someone. Although I may be able to borrow one.
Also, I would be a yes for that weekend. With a possible +1.

I could probably do three nights if one is a Monday? I don't have campground preference at all...I just need to book ASAP if I need the weekend off.
I'm so sad you can't make it, KJ!

Deep breath: I miiiight come for a night or two if it starts before the 12th. (I think I'm going to Alaska on the 12th or 13th.) Especially if it's within a couple of hours of Portland.

I'm so sad you can't make it, KJ! I wish I could come! Next year you should come to the music festival with me!

But, really, anywhere in western WA or northwest OR is OK by me. A place with a shower is a bonus, but not a necessity.
