Zebedee has been pretty regular about his litter box usage - one poop and 2 pees every day, it seemed. I went to scoop out his box this morning, and he hadn't even stepped into it (the litter was undisturbed from scooping it yesterday). He doesn't seem to be ill or distressed, and I didn't smell anything around the house to indicate he'd TCB somewhere else. But that can't be normal, for a cat to not pee or poop for a whole day, right? Someone reassure me and/or tell me what to do!

Oh man, so right before I left for work (which is about 5 minutes after I posted this), I got Zebby some water and saw that he'd used his box. It still doesn't seem right that he didn't do anything for a whole day, but at least he started up again, so hopefully that means nothing's wrong.

i would keep an eye on him, rachell. when our male kitteh wasn't using the box as much it was because he was developing a urinary tract infection. if you notice him straining any when he's using the box, or lots of smaller clumps instead of regular sized clumped litter you might wanna take him into the vet to have his urine tested for crystals.

Yes, keep an eye. Everything happyfaced said. My Gershwin almost died from a full blockage, and I think it could've been prevented had I been more diligent about checking his box.

My cats are terrified of strangers, so this happens sometimes if we have someone over, or if our landlord is working on something in the basement, or if our neighbors (same building) are making a lot of noise. The cats will spend the whole day in hiding. If there isn't a medical issue it could have been something like this?

He is quite the scaredy, so it could've been something like that, though he definitely wasn't hiding when I got home yesterday. I glanced at his box when I got home today, and he definitely used it again - looked to be the same size as usual. I'll keep an eye on things and make sure it's back to normal, but his behavior hasn't changed and he's eating/sleeping normally. Thanks for the help, folks!

This has scared me a little. I scoop poop (rhyming!) whenever it is needed but i never really check for pee, I will be more vigilant from now on.
