Hey PPK'ers !
I'll be in London on the 15th for a show with the band I work for, and I figured that I could stay in London for some days after, since the boss doesn't mind on what day I book my return ticket. Yay ! I have not been in London since I became vegan, so the world is my oyster, I reckon. :) Would any of you feel like meeting up on Monday or Tuesday ?
Furthermore: I'm looking for a place to stay for the night of the 16th. My guts tell me that this will be an enormous pain in the bum with the Olympics going on. Any tips in this field? I have never couch surfed or something like it before, but that might be an option looking into for this one night.
So yeah, tell me about all the vegan glamour London has to offer, and let's hang out !

I'm not in London myself but this is where I go when I'm in town: Miss Cupcake - city's first wholly vegan bakery. Her cupcakes are to die for (excellent sponge, divine frosting but LOTS of it I can never finish it all), the savouries are also really really good, the cookie sandwiches are nuts, everyone who works there is super nice and talented. It's in Brixton which also has a fun market to peruse. Maybe ten minutes walk from the tube? http://www.mscupcake.co.uk/222 Veggie Vegan - one of my fave restaurants. The desserts I've had haven't been that special but the entrees are to die for (best seitan I've ever had) and VERY reasonably priced. This is in Kensington. http://www.222veggievegan.com/Inspiral lounge - very good sandwiches and raw desserts, also free wifi, but you do kinda pay for location (it's slap bang in the middle of Camden market, which is a fun place to visit in itself if a bit exhausting). Usually busy. They have a lot of music and other events going on too. http://www.inspiralled.net/ VX is the only vegan shop I know of in London. It's got a lot of accessories and clothes etc as well as various essentials, if you want stuff like chapsticks or clif bars it's a good place to go, also they usually have Ms Cupcake cupcakes and other fresh snacks and things. Near King's Cross. http://www.vegancross.co.uk/Also if you're all the way out in Hackney for some reason Pogo is a swell vegan cafe where you can meet other vegans, surf the web and eat ridiculously cheap and tasty food. http://www.pogocafe.co.uk/Places I've NOT been but am planning to go on my next visit: Third Estate - a wholly vegan shoe shop! New to London, it used to be based in Leeds. Super excited about this. They have lots of brands, including the excellent Vegetarian Shoes. In Camden. https://www.facebook.com/thirdestatelondonItadaki Zen - vegan Japanese cuisine! Near King's Cross. http://www.itadakizen.com/Hope some of these look interesting :) Have a great trip!

go to G&T Coffee House (tell them that some dickhead Australian sent you there) and have the best (read: Bonsoy/Clipper) hot chocolate that money will buy on that edge of the planet :) (they also do amazing sammiches and have kickass baked things. it's a great spot for lunch. the lady there used to work at Manna. also: go to Manna!)

If you're living in whitechapel you have a wonderful little café near bethnal green tube station, the Gallery Café, all vegetarian with tons of vegan options. Really delicious and affordable, one of my favourite places.

I don't think anyone else has mentioned this here but Mildred's is wonderful too. Its in Soho, so not too bad to get to from Whitechapel. It's a proper restaurant, so more expensive than a cafe or anything, but such good food, argh!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Mildred's. <3 Yeah I figure it's pretty well known to the veggie community. My bf took me there as a birthday present the other day, so I'm still feeling the need to preach about how freakin' awesome it is to everyone I can! I also just remembered there's an Indian place at the end of Chapel Market at the Angel which is a vegetarian and vegan buffet, and is hilarious generally- the walls are covered in pro-veggie propaganda (not even an exaggeration), but the food is WONDERFUL. And it's super cheap. Not sure what it's called, as we all refer to it as "the mad indian veggie place"...

I think I might have raved about Mildred's to everyone going to London after I went there. Also, there used to be this really nice coffee shop, called Mrs. Marengo's, a couple of doors down, which is owned by the same people as Mildred's, but I just saw on their website that they closed up. Boo. And about Indian food: Staying in Whitechapel will take care of that, I reckon. :D

Definitely go to Inspiral, it's awesome - worth a trip just for their potato wedges and garlic mayo.
And there's a vegan cookie stand in the market too where the lady is totally lovely and the cookies rock. She heats them up for you! (I'm hoping Jojo or Kip will chip in because I can't remember what it's called!!)

Cookies and Scream cookie sandwiches are amazing but don't be tempted to try and eat two in one sitting.

If people ever ask me what I like to do on holidays, I am certain that I can answer fully and honestly with just two words: I eat.

Coming up!
Apparently we are seeing Magic Mike on the 17, if that's something you are interested in :)

Thanks for pointing that out ! I didn't notice before you told me. :)
That was one rainy yet extremely pleasant afternoon. Next time when I'm in London, I'll come on a weekend so I get to meet the rest of the London based PPK gang !
