Chronotorious

Which is an album based off the music of Chrono Trigger. I don't listen to all of the songs depending on what I'm doing. Some of them aren't very yoga-compatible but I haven't found a better track than Forrest Steppin' to do yoga to yet.

THE SOUNDS ARE NOT EMBARRASSING.

Seriously, they are awesome. Most of Dying To Say This To You (and a lot of their other songs) sound like they were made for a montage. And working out is much more fun if you can pretend you're in a montage!

Anyway, here is where I go for hooping music:

http://mashupyourbootz.blogspot.com/

It's free to download! You're violating nothing by downloading mashups! Breathe easy. If you don't like a whole lot of dance music, a lot of the mashed up songs are rock songs. I usually just download a couple, and then give a quick listen to songs that are made up of parts that I already like. Sometimes I don't like the smooshed version, in that case I remove them from the playlist. Also for working out, obviously not all of these will work because some of them are slow jamz. But the important part is: free!

I generally workout to Flogging Molly & the Dropkick Murphys.

My current running playlist is all 80s, a mix of genres (the only requirements were "uptempo" and "recorded before I graduated high school.") It's been fun, but I need to switch it up. All the Joan Jett songs give me a boost, though.

I listen to Leonard Cohen and promptly end up snuggling with the cat on the couch instead of exercising.

Lots more stuff in this thread! I like to dance/walk on the treadmill to Justin Timberlake. Sleigh Bells first album is good too.

Hanzel und Gretyl are still around? People still listen to them? That's surprisingly awesome.

Here's some exercise music.

Haaaa, I love workout jams and finding new ones so much.

I'm gonna go through my iTunes list and pull some names out.
When I'm on the elliptical, I like dancey stuff like The Bloody Beetroots, Caribou, Crystal Castles, Daft Punk, Destiny's Child (!!!!! Helloooo, Bootylicious), Jay-Z, Justice, LADY GAGA (SO MUCH), Leslie Hall, LMFAO (just that one song...sexy and I know it, cuz duh), Michael Jackson, MSTFKRFT, Wu Tang.

When I lift weights, I go for stuff like Earth Crisis, forked Up, Refused, Descendents, Dillinger Escape Plan....weights equals me needing all the testosterone I can muster.

I forking love sweating to good jams.

My sister listens to Rocky music, which kills me (i.e., from the 1976 Rocky soundtrack music by Bill Conti for the young'uns who may not know what I'm referring to. Inspiring!). She also loves 70s disco, as do I, to work out to. (Thelma Houston, Donna Summer, etc.)

I just listen to whatever mixes on my ipod, but once something slow comes on, I forward to something more upbeat.

I listen to silly pop and mashups and a bit of folk with a beat when I'm doing cardio. I need to be able to sing along and pretend I'm dancing and not exercising.

For weights, I tend to listen to things like Joanna Newsom or Mumford & Sons... folksy twee stuff.
