Post Punk Kitchen Forum

For the last few years I have taken my mum away in the summer for a few days. In recent years we have done Bath, York, Chester and Brighton. Where can we go this year? It needs to be somewhere where the main stuff to do/visit is fairly central - my mum can't walk more than short distances or for any length of time. We like museums/galleries/places of interest etc. Good places to eat would be a bonus (my mum is vegetarian). Ideas? all suggestions gratefully received!

The only other city I know well is Ipswich, which is fine for an afternoon but I wouldn't recommend it as a tourist destination.

If you have a car, Dorset/the Jurassic Coast has a lot going for it. South Wales is pretty nice most of the time.

I like both Manchester and Nottingham for food, everything close togetherness and shopping. I'm not sure about musems, galleries etc but I'm sure they must exist. I have stayed at a couple different hotels in both places so pm me if you do decide on either of them.

Edinburgh could be a good option, all of the main tourist attractions & museums are quite close together, it's beautiful & there's great food.

I was going to suggest Edinburgh but there's quite a bit of steep walking.

Oxford?
Stratford on Avon?
St Ives?

Lots of good ideas! Edinburgh we already ruled out because of the steep walking (my mum is on crutches at the moment and for a few weeks yet), but maybe next year. I don't drive and mum can't for the next couple of months, so although the Jurassic coast sounds good it won't do for this year. Oxford, Stratford, Nottingham and St Ives have distinct possibilities though! I will start researching, thanks guys.
