Bayme is a terrible name, but Bayne would be a great name. Imagine yelling at a kid called Bayne. "BAAAAAAAYYYYYNNNNEEE!"
So rad.

Heh heh. That makes me think of someone saying 'bam' in a funny accent. (around here bam is a rude term for an idiot. Which didn't stop an English construction company calling themself BAM, getting a contract up here and wandering around our new school with BAM on their uniforms.) Bad name for a child.

I just heard about parents who had a "surprise" child many years after their other children were grown, and actually considered naming the child Daisy. As in "whoops-a-daisy".

Also, I hesitate to post this one because it's so popular right now that I'm sure someone reading will love it: but man do I hate the name Cash.
I'm not sure what it's meant to evoke. It just makes me think of an ATM.

As in Johnny Cash maybe? He rocked socks. No, still weird.
I knew people who named their baby Casino. That was bad.

My friend's brother's new baby's name is Ajax. Middle name Apollo. Ajax's brother's name is Rex. A woman I know is pregnant and deciding between Andromeda and Electra for baby names. Her first kid is Zephyros.

I've been watching the US Olympic qualifying coverage and there's a sports commentator named Rowdy Gaines. choirqueer wrote: just mumbles wrote: Bayme is a terrible name, but Bayne would be a great name. Imagine yelling at a kid called Bayne. "BAAAAAAAYYYYYNNNNEEE!"
So rad. Bayne? Like, Bayne of my existence? Remember Payne Stewart? Also: Picabo Street. Actually, I might be in the wrong thread. I like the names Rowdy Gaines and Picabo Street in a novelty sort of way.

Yes, perhaps if they have a(nother) boy they can name him Oedipus.

I am happy to say I have never heard of a kid named Cash. I clearly don't run in the right circles .

I like the names Rowdy Gaines and Picabo Street in a novelty sort of way. Didn't Picabo Street's Mom wait until she was a toddler to name her and then let her name herself? That's the story I heard and in that story little girl Street loved the game Peek-a-boo more than anything... hence Picabo Street. I always liked that story. I have no idea if there is truth to it.

Ha. I call my kid Poptart as a nickname (yeah I don't know) and sometimes I worry people at the park think that's his real name. Also I call him Dolly a lot, and worry about the same thing.
He started calling his little brother Wrenny-Benny lately, which has led to us jokingly calling him Wrenjamin. Which is a pretty bad name.

haha I've started telling people we named our kid Sierra after the beer (well, it is my partner's fave, Sierra Nevada) and I guarantee many people think I'm serious.

Today someone told me that Scarlett has a "very creative" name, with the implication that it's weird or not a real name. Seriously? Actually, we fell in love with it because we're into old-fashioned names.

Ignore othe people's opinions! No matter what the name, someone will find something annoying to say about it.
And Scarlett is a beautiful, classic name.

Yeah, my cousin named her son Cassius and calls him Cash. I prefer to call him Cassius because if I say my second cousin is "Cash" it sounds silly.
