I like stevia :) some stevia, strawberries and almond yoghurt, yummy.
I had to laugh at this thread though because I discovered banana "soft serve" before I realised
A: I never really liked it when I wasn't vegan B: I'm not the biggest fan of bananas (I have to eat them at a certain time of their ripeness).
so I basically just add extracts and nommy things to it. right now I have cake batter banana-cream in the freezer (cashew nut butter with sprinkles, isa's raw cookie dough, and the bananas, 1 tsp almond extract, 1 tsp vanilla, and vanilla almond milk).
it gets the job done.
(last week i had peppermint chip). i am thinking to experiment with frozen avocados (for green + more creamy) and the banana.

I have come to think that maybe stevia is like cilantro. I believe those of you who claim to like it, but I can't taste anything but it when it's in anything.

I recently had in some new brand of sugar free, dairy free, everything free ice cream, and it tasted so chemically to me, worse than diet soda. I think it's great that stuff exists for people who can't have sweeteners for one reason or another, but tastewise, i cannot get behind it.

I'm 100% behind you on this one. I had a full five to ten minutes before a sickly sweet flavour kicked in, so I had chocolate that tasted like cack and then spent an afternoon at work feeling like someone had set off a confectionery grenade in my mouth. I think that some people really don't taste stevia, or taste it differently at any rate.

I just want to add, for science, I'm also adverse to both cilantro and stevia. The first time I had stevia in anything was Silk's holiday-time chocolate mint drink. The pumpkin one tastes good (no stevia), but they totally ruined the chocolate mint one for me. Which is fine.

Weirdly, I love stevia in some things (espresso over ice with soy milk), but hate it in other, similar things (regular iced coffee or hot coffee of any kind). I loved the So Delicious sugar-free mint chip ice cream, but hated the other flavor I tried. It's an enigma.

Like, I love it in mint tea, but it's gross in coffee. My mom's hippie friend will roll up a stevia leaf and a mint leaf from her garden and then just munch on them, which is pretty delicious.

I...don't...mind stevia? I mean, I can taste it in something, but it doesn't really bother me.

Oh, stevia." Then my father-in-law decided to try every chocolate non-dairy milk out there, and settled on Silk light because it tastes like cheap chocolate milk, and we were drinking it and wondering why it was 'light' and I said, "Well, artificial sweetener of some kind, that's also why it tastes a little chemically, like you made it with NesQuick or something." So we checked the back and it has Stevia AND sugar, so I guess it's possible to mix it with sugar so it doesn't make everything taste gross. My neighbor told me she was planting Stevia and I almost vomited in her garden.

I think that stevia is gross and I used to hate cilantro. Not sure how that helps the science.
Also, my new toy is out for delivery (yay!), so I'm going to give banana soft serve a final skeptical try in the next few days. I've also been seeing that Yo!Nannas thing everywhere lately, it irrationally annoys me.

A vitamix, right? I don't think that's going to make it any better than a regular blender or food processor. The only time I've liked it is in a juicer which makes it fluffy somehow.

The problem with the vitamix is that it's so powerful it almost blends the bananas too much and it gets too liquidy. Or I just have to learn not to blend it so long. I don't know, I just haven't perfected it yet. I actually used to get better results with my immersion blender (but I had to microwave the bananas for a few seconds to get them to blend, so meh).
I can taste stevia but I'm okay with it. I put it in my tea every day and it's fine. I'm not such a fan of it in desserts, but it doesn't gross me out. It's just not sugar.

I dunno, the blended banana thing does it for me ice-cream-wise. I put walnuts and blueberries in it. Maybe the walnuts help it taste more creamy because they add fat. I've also considered throwing in some cocoa powder. Anyone tried this? Or maybe instant coffee? Or both?

I think the fat does help, I put a spoonful of nut butter in mine and it makes it a lot richer.
