Does anyone know of a really good hair straightener that can straighten curly hair and is less than $50?
Mine finally died and I can't afford to rebuy the exact one so I'm on the look out for a cheaper one.

My hair is naturally wavy/borderline curly and I use one of those wet to dry ones and it straightens my hair for real. I got it from Target and it was definitely less than $50- maybe around $20?

Sorry if this is a stupid question but does it work well on dry hair or do you have to use it when your hair is wet?
Also, do you remember the brand name?

It's a Remington Wet 2 Straight and it has separate settings for wet hair and dry hair. I rarely use it on my wet hair.

I have that one, too. My hair is not curly, but it's frizzy and super poofy. I've never used it on wet hair. I have super thick hair, so it would never dry my hair. Also the steam kind of burns when your hair is wet. But, it works really well on dry. I always use it on the highest setting, but again my hair is super thick.

I loved my Remington when my hair was long (very thick hair, by the way). I do not personally suggest using a hair iron when your hair is anything but slightly damp because the hot steam can burn your fingers and hands badly. Which, if you're like me, can cause you to drop the hot iron on your feet.

That's why I asked how it worked on dry hair because there's no way I'm using a hot iron on my wet hair.

I have a cheap Remington, and it's fine. It used to be the straightener I kept at work when I had a really expensive one at home, but that one broke after less than a year (it was $300+, and my housemate at the time also had one that broke after less than a year. Won't be buying one of those again). The Remington has held up for years of everyday use with no issues!
