So, uh, I heard Blackbird is getting rid of the BBQ mushroom sandwich. I'm kinda sad because it was so yummy, fresh, crunchy, and DAIYA-LESS!!! Better get it while ya can.

Oh no I liked that one. But I think everyone I was with the times I had it didn't like it, so that's not a shock.

Did anyone get to try the vegan pizza day special? BUFFALO WING PIZZA! Crunchy seitan wingz on a bbq pizza, with red onions and daiya. Sweet, spicy amazingness in my mouth. Blew my mind.

Sadly no, we went today but they were out of it. Hubbie got two slices of peperoni. I just get to smell it and be jelous!

Buffalo wing pizza was off the chains good. The seitan was so crispy and I loved the mix of sweet and spicy from the sauce. I still have half a pie left, can't wait for breakfast and lunch tomorrow!
As a side note, moving to a neighborhood within delivery distance of Blackbird may or may not be dangerous.

The Buffalo Wing pizza looked good! But there wasn't any when we arrived and there was a bit of a wait. I was happy with the Haymaker!

I was told that they will permanently add the seitan wings to the menu in both pizza and side order form, as well as adding new items to the menu once they run out of menus. There are about 200 menus left, so please pick 1 or 5 up next time you are there. I need some wings in my life.

Oooooh can we get them to add a gluten free pizza crust option? Cause that would be amazing!

I asked them awhile back, when they first opened actually, and they said it wouldn't be too feasible due to cross-contamination. The wheat flour gets everywhere. It wouldn't hurt re-asking now that they are all settled in though.
If you are ever visiting the shore in Ocean or Monmouth counties, there is a pizza place in Toms River called Via Roma that does both vegan and gluten free options. Pretty extensive vegan and gluten free menu actually. They have a separate vegan/vegetarian menu and a separate gluten free menu that are both several pages long and everything is very clearly labeled what is what. They do daiya and carry gardein products and also carry Papa Ganache deserts. They are right where Rt. 70 and Rt. 9 meet, very convenient to get to from around these parts.

Blackbird has a new menu!!! Two kinds of wings, two new pizzas, a new side (roasted vegetables), a beet & arugula salad, the wingwich, and pizzas are now available in two sizes: the regular 18", and a 12".
I tried the citrus-habanero wingz the other day, and they were really good. Definitely spicy, but the cucumber dipping sauce really helped with that. I kinda just wish they were buffalo wingz, though. I'm boring like that. They also do a rootbeer BBQ wing that I'm dying to try. The harvest pizza is insanely delicious, with a garlic sauce, roasted leeks, brussels, squash, and cauliflower, on a whole wheat crust. Mine was verrrrrry skimpy on the toppings, though...I hope it was just first-day weirdness. I'm excited about the other new pizza because it is pesto-based and daiya-free(!). I've heard mixed reviews about the wingwich, so I'm curious what you all think.

Buttercup, thanks for the fabulous news! I've been waiting so so long for those wings! Even though I brought lunch to work today, I think I will have to skip it and order me some wingz....rootbeer bbq? Insane.

Can I just say, that it was really awesome and such a novelty to tell my guy on a Friday night, "hey, let's get some pizza and wings delivered." Sure enough, we got a tomatoe pie and root beer bbq wings. The pizza was alright, but the wings were super delicious and whatever that dipping sauce was, it was incredible. I also managed to try an order of the habenero wings earlier in the week, which were also really awesome.

This new menu is ruining my life. I can't get out of there without spending at least $16. I want everything. My favorite meal is: small bbq wings, roasted veggies, chickpea parm. I take half the parm home, so it's like Xmas the next day.

I went here this weekend! I was visiting from CA and so was excited to check it out. Nacho pizza = very tasty, but best part was the crust. Best crispy chewy crust!
I also tried some wings, which sadly weren't buffalo (I like them classic) but still good. I get the feeling that the sandwiches are where it's at. There is a scant possibility that I may be moving to Philly next year, and if I do, I will be returning...

A nice pie available in South Philly from a place that is.otherwise not too laden with vegan options.
