It wouldn't stop me from getting vaccinated, I mean there's already eggs in vaccines, right? But still, hope they find something better.

That's really strange and innovative, and it definitely would not stop me from getting vaccinated either. Hopefully this doesn't add to the any of the anti-vaccination alarmist bullshiitake (sorry, that topic really chaps my asparagus).

I wish they would move away from animal products in vaccines.. it kind of frustrates me to be questioned about why I'm vegan and vaccinate. It distracts from more important things, IMO.

I understand why they use animal bits in vaccines; when it's a choice between releasing a vaccine/medicine/treatment and letting it protect or cure and generally save human lives, or letting it sit around for longer and getting retested for possible chemical interactions and applying new patents, it makes sense to release it as soon as you can. To me, anyway.

Like anything medical, things take time and can seriously fork you up if they even go a little bit away from what they were tested for (thalidamide?). Changing the recipe changes the chemistry.

Don't by any means think I'm all like "yaaaaay silk in vaccines rocks" but in cases of public health, I consider the use of animal products a lesser evil.

FWIW, if they are going to use silk proteins large scale, they might start producing them in bacteria rather than purifying them from actual silk. Who knows.
