I gave up somewhere in season 5, and there it sits in my Netflix queue, abandoned.

love it! the midnight reruns were a staple of my teenage years. i had a 3.5" screen tv in my bedroom and i'd watch northern exposure while i finished up my homework every night. but, yeah, the last season was a real disappointment.

i own this whole series and watch it pretty often. it really was spectacular right up until almost the very end. the idea of chris stevens still makes me judge actual men kind of harshly. i can't stop hoping that somewhere in the woods there is a tall, beautiful ex-con who wants to sculpt me a bear out of old hubcaps and talk about kierkegaard and the space-time continuum while i run my fingers through his pretty, pretty hair.

I would sig this if there wasn't a character limit.

I was just thinking of this show today and just posted it as one of the shows that ended that I miss. I keep wondering what Fleischman is up to and Maggie and Chris. Even Maurice is missed, even though he was a jerk at times. It's like they were real people to me!
We went to Alaska this summer for the first time for our honeymoon and we purposely spent 2 days in Talkeetna because Northern Exposure was supposedly inspired by that town!

Maurice was on Psych! I was so excited when I saw him.
I wish I could find the Yom Kippur episode online, I wanted to show it to my family's rabbi, but it seems to not be available.
I believe it should have ended after the odyssey episode when Dr. Fleishman leaves for NY.

I always liked Northern Exposure when it was on. Since I've been dating a boy from Alaska for the last 2 years, I have a major jonesing for anything AK. From what I've heard from his friends and family, they enjoyed the show, but were pretty disappointed that it wasn't actually shot in Alaska.

All summer I ordered the entire series one by one from Netflix. It's one of my favorite shows.

I once went to a wedding on a first date (that was an interesting story). My date was nice, but I found his family to be much more interesting. He had a cousin who was seated at the same table as us at the reception. I don't recall the guy's real name, but he looked just like Ed Chigliak, and after a couple glasses of wine I was calling him Ed for the rest of the night. It was amazing. I wish I had gotten a photo with the Ed Chigliak from the wedding. Biggest mistake of my life.

My mother used to watch it when I was a kid, and would offer to let me watch with her, but at the time I was 8-9 and it seemed boring. When my parents got Netflix, she ordered the whole series and every time I went back to visit them we watched more episodes. It's so great!

little known fact: ed (darren e burrows) has naturally light brown hair and he dyed it black for the show so he would look more indian. there are lots of times when he's in the sunshine and you can see the roots.
(i had a crush on ed, too.)
