Hi, everyone!
Last week I had the most lovely Indonesian dinner with work colleagues, and the woman cooking for us made nearly everything vegan! I've been dreaming of it since, and I'd really love to add an Indonesian cookbook to my collection, but can't seem to find much geared towards vegetarian/vegan. I saw a couple vegan "Asian" books with Indonesian sections, but the reviews made it sound like even those were not very authentic. Can anyone suggest a book? I guess a vegan one doesn't exist, but if you have something with many easily adaptable recipes, I'd be willing to check that out.
Thanks!

The Asian Vegan Kitchen has an Indonesian chapter, with recipes for tofu satay, nasi goreng, a few salads, a couple of tempeh dishes, curries and drinks. I've really liked the stuff I've made from it so far, and the book as a whole is one of my favourites. I've found most of the recipes in there to be pretty authentic, in my experience.

Thanks. I was debating whether to try that one. I've seen your photos in Food Porn, and I trust your taste!

I love that book. The gado gado is amazing.

I have Lonny's Rijsttafel, it isn't vegetarian but it has lots of vegan or veganizable recipes in it (granted I don't see meat recipes anyway, my eyes just skip right over them ;) ). It's in Dutch, though, and I don't know whether there's an English version.
ETA: Even if you do speak Dutch, it's a little trickier to follow than other Dutch cookbooks, I find, because it uses the Indonesian names of certain spices and vegetables. I usually write in the English next to unfamiliar ingredient names right in the cookbook. If there's something specific you're looking for that I could translate, let me know...

Thanks, annak! I'll have a look for that. My Dutch isn't great, but maybe it's good enough.
