I really, really want to come! I know nothing about camping and haven't been for years but I have been reading about this gathering for the past two years here in the forum and have been wanting to go so badly!

This year I'm in and Larisa, I'm in NJ/NY so if you need help with the driving - I love to drive! Let me know if you are going and maybe we can meet up, if you like.

Welcome Bunnykins!

Bergedy is coming from the Bostonish area. We are renting a van but I'm guessing 3 extra passengers is our limit and we have Jilly/Friday and possibly Bergedy. She might be interested as well in car pooling though.

Basically, you'd want to bring a sleeping bag and possibly a sleeping mat and pillow. Bathing suit-like wear, utensils/plates (we usually have extras but its good to bring your own as well), food to share (we like food, if you have anything specific you want to share feel free, if you need suggestions, let us know), a cooler if you have one, comfortable walking shoes, a sweatshirt/jacket and pants for cooler nights and cool clothes for warmer days. Sunscreen.

I don't know if I'm missing anything.

Sweeeeet! I kept looking in the Dirty South forums and not seeing this so I thought maybe it was on FB but nooooo. Anyway, camping this year, as I will not be living uberly conveniently around the block. I do however live a 30 minute walk to Rosettas, which is splendidly full of flavored garnish.

Don't know if I can take alll the days off so we need to pick the bestest day off for me. I know that there are some coworkers vacationing during this time so I might not be able to call off. Friday or Saturday are my best bets.

I have to feed you garnish at least once a year. . .

garnish me baby

Thanks so much linanil! I'm excited to come down this year and am totally cool with jumping in a carpool if anyone has an extra seat. Thank you for the recs, I will also definitely take food suggestions if you have some.

If you have a cooler, almost anything that would be potluck friendly is veganstock friendly. Any sides are always good such as pasta salad (yes I said pasta salad), potato salad, bean salads, etc. If you don't have a cooler, it'd need to be something a bit more portable.

We'll need to start talking about food in general when we get closer and if anyone has any ideas on what they really want to bring, feel free to say it.

As usual, I'll be bringing fixings for chili.

I've been wanting to go to one of these, but the timing was always off. I might be able to make this one, though, so put me down for "maybe"!

Hey all, I know it's a little late (I was looking for this thread in the Dirty South, like lycophyte), but I'd love to join in some of the Veganstock festivities. I'll be living in Asheville so won't be camping, but would love to join in other outdoors and foodie adventures. I'll keep y'all posted once I have a better idea of what my work schedule is like and what food stuff I can contribute. This is exciting!

Yeah, definitely! I move back to Asheville in less than a week, so I'll keep you (and Ashley? y'all are housemates now, right?) posted about hanging out soon.

I think I'm going to have to change my "maybe" to a "no" for this year. I'm just doing too much other stuff in the weeks before and after, and I'm going to need some rest.

I'm watching flight prices. If they drop between now and then, I'll come! I'll check frequently! I'm looking at Fri-Sun.

I have all sorts of camping gear and can bring my camping hammock to sleep in if there is somewhere I can hang it. So I wouldn't need tent space or anything. I really want to come, the timing/budgeting hasn't worked out for me in the past.

Ugh. Hate to do it, but unfortunately I'm out. I work in film and just booked a feature that's filming in upstate NY that weekend. I was really looking forward to this camping trip too, but mayhaps next year!

Have fun everyone! I hope you enjoy lots of yummy vegan goodness. :)
