my friends sister is working in PDX for a few months and she is going to visit her at the end of august. i think its like a long weekend.
i have a bunch of recommendations for her from our trip but they are mainly vegan/brew pub centric and we also had a car so we actually left PDX and did nature/hiking stuff. my friend's sister will be working most of the time she is visiting so she will be on her own to explore. im guessing she will take the light rail.
she is not a vegan or a veg but does enjoy veg foods.
any good recommendations? she likes beer, coffee, music, etc
so far i have Voodoo Powells Vita Cafe (my favorite) Stumptown Saturday Market Nicholas

Los Gorditos/El Nutri Taco > Laughing Planet (which isn't really a burrito, more like some Cali wrap caca. Semantics, etc... :) ) Albina Press, The Fresh Pot, Courier Coffee, Stumptown (of course) for coffee Sizzle Pie Portobello Sweetpea for sandwiches Back to Eden for cake/pie/soft serve Dovetail for sticky buns and biscuits & gravy (Sat. and Sun. only for the b&g) Canteen for fresh salads, bowls, juice, and smoothies, kombucha and beer on tap HGS for vegan BBQ (soon to be open at Mississippi Marketplace or whatever it's called, RIP NE 20th & Everett location) Forest Park is accessible via public transit and has miles of hikes.

The beer bars are really fun. Belmont Station and Apex are both in SE (and Apex is right. next. to Los Gorditos) and therefore the ones I frequent, but Bailey's Taproom is downtown and has tasty beers. It's right across from Tugboat Brewing, which is basically the coziest place ever. The walls are lined with board games and books!
