A friend just told me that Domino's pizza has a new gluten free crust option. And it looks vegan!



I wasn't sure what avicel or calcium propinate were but they look like preservatives. Still, it does give me the option to get a cheese free pie with lotsa veggies if I'm away from home!

Has anyone tried it?

Uh, yum? It can be used to replace up to half the flour in a product. On another site it said this stuff is used to coat pills.

So, a frankenfood, but at least the gluten-free crust *doesn't* have cheese in the dough like all the other Domino's pizza crusts.

We ordered one! I'll update on quality after.

Okay, so. That pizza was pretty delicious. The crust didn't fall apart, wasn't too crispy that it broke into shards and didn't get droopy. We just got one with a whole bunch of peppers (some of nearly any pepper they offer) and onions and olives. All in all, not bad. It was a pretty small pie, one that's really meant for one person. That happens alot; gluten free or vegan pizzas tend to be tiny versions, which I guess may change if it proves profitable.

All in all, really good, and worth $15 to have another option for delivery besides our usual Indian standard fare.

So you can't get a normal size pie with the new - cheese-free - crust? Oh, well. I guess we'll be pizza-less until this heat wave is over and I can make them again. Thanks for the review.

Tiny and $15 bucks! What the hell?

Ooh, I'd try it. The one near me doesn't offer delivery, apparently, but it's right down the street and saves a couple bucks, so that's ok. For three toppings my fake order came to $9.99. Not bad! Some of the frozen vegan pizzas are almost that much anyway.

Ok, so I made a fake order to see how much it would cost me. Two pizzas, cause one isn't big enough to feed both of us, with lots of veggie toppings came to $31.98! That is crazy!

But if we weren't vegan and gluten free we could get all of this for $19.99.
2 Medium 1-Topping Pizzas, 16 Piece Parmesan Bread Bites, 8 Piece CinnaStix and a 2 Liter of Coke

Funny how that is, right? Throw cheese in there and they knock the price down. It was good but considering we'd want to top it off with Daiya and order 2 anyway, it's not really that cheap, and it's not really filling but in a pinch it might work as a good thing to order if you're over a friend's and they're getting Dominos. At least now it's not like you'll have to wait for home.

I ordered it by my dad's, and they put a piece of chicken on the pizza. By accident of course, but I ate around the slices with it on there. Thanks to my local Dominos for making it perfectly, each of the ~10 times we've gotten it so far, and not cross contaminating. No chickens should be harmed in the making of this pizza.
