i had to go home on my lunch break because we had an ant explosion in the room where my guinea pigs were and i needed to go see if i had to kick some ant asparagus in defense of my precious pumpkins.
so i walk outside into the roasting/humid heat and in the parkiong lot at work is sort of a big hole lined with stones (like a stone wall kinda) and down there is a turtle on it's back. with his limbs all splayed out. its hot as hell i thought he was dead. then i saw one of his flippers move a tiny bit so i jumped in the ditch and snared him then i realized i knew nothing about turtles other than i thougth they liked water and i had no idea where there was water around here. the office park is surrounded by woods so i put him on the edge of the woods. when i went home i got a snapple bottle and filled it with water planning on giving my new turtle friend some when i got back but when i got back he had already left! that is one fast turtle! i hope he made his way to some water.
pics soon!

Aw! Good job! I was walking near the highway in my hometown when I was younger, and I saw two turtles trying to cross the highway, so I grabbed them, and called my sister (who could drive) and she picked us all up and we took them home and put them in this caged giant sandbox my dad built for us, until we could take them to McNaughton Park, which was just a place for hiking, that had a couple lakes and seemed like a good home for a turtle. While we were waiting, one escaped. From an enclosed sandbox (enclosed so that neighborhood cats wouldn't use it as a litterbox). That had a shut door. Crazy escape turtle. The other one was taken to McNaughton park and released, far away from busy highways.

Could be one of several kinds of terrapin.
Did you see if the underside of it's shell had any orange on it, or if it had red markings on the sides of it's head?

Red eared slider maybe? Those are pretty common in MA, and they have a red stripe on the sides of their heads.
Good job on saving him!
