They went over really well! I was flipping through looking for interesting cookies to make and when I saw cayenne pepper in the ingredients list there wasn't really any choice left in the matter

Yum, those look beautiful. I love those cookies and everyone who has tried them is always super impressed, even people I would never guess would like them.

They cracked so perfectly! I can never get them to crack quite that well.

I'm scared to try these BECAUSE of the cayenne. I can't even fathom how that would taste with chocolate and I'm afraid I won't like them and will feel like I wasted ingredients... :-/

I suppose I could do a half-batch, too. Then if I really hate them I won't kick myself. :-p And if I end up loving them, wonderful.

Like, it was delicious chocolate and then a moment after there was kind of a kick. Also, I didn't even do anything special to make them crack! That doesn't just happen naturally?

These are some of my favorite cookies. We always make them when people come to dinner!

These cookies are pretty spicy - if you have heartburn, I would consider cutting down on the cayenne. They are delicious and addictive, but I felt like they were going to burn a hole straight through my stomach (and I don't usually have trouble with heartburn).

I think I've made a million of these over the past few years. My husband's family begs me for them every fall. I use half of the suggested cayenne amount and they are still plenty spicy! The full amount was too spicy for me, but I don't like that type of spicy. They always crack perfectly too! Great cookies!

mmm, these are some of my favourite cookies. Mine always crack perfectly and the cayenne somehow makes the fruity notes in chocolate pop.

Ginger and chocolate could work well together, and I don't think the ginger would compete with the cinnamon at all. You'd still get that back of the throat burn, but without the heat of the cayenne. As someone else said, you could try half a batch, just to test the waters.
