Okay so I'm moving super soon (2 weeks) and it turns out that regular movers are ridiculously expensive. Has anyone used PODS or ABF UPack or the UHaul UBoxes and can share with me? I can't decide which to pick - they're all really close in price.
Thanks!!

We used the ABF UPack when we moved cross country five years ago. It was fine. They dropped the pods off for packing almost 24 hours after the scheduled time. But other than that, we had a good experience. Nothing damaged, and if for some reason you need your stuff stored on the other end rather than returned to you promptly (we did, we were in temporary housing a few months) they'll do that too.
Congrats on the pending move by the way!

Yep, that was a pretty smooth move. Get good padlocks (like the round ones that weigh about 3 pounds each, and not just 1 per unit, either-- get 2 per, and I'd zip-tie the handles down so it's obvious if they've been tampered with) and load 'em up. You'll want moving blankets between furniture and stuff because they get to experience a LOT of vibration. We had a couple of cardboard boxes that were touching the sides of furniture during the move and the boxes sanded a sort of smooth patch into the sides where they touched. It was kind of cool, but probably not ideal if you have furniture you like.
They do get very hot inside if it's sunny.

They will sell you moving blankets and ship them (and tie-downs and stuff) separately so they arrive before the cubes.
Hiring movers! How clever! I just hauled all that stuff back and forth myself!

movinghelp.com! it's through uhaul but they link to local movers and show ratings and whatnot. it's like $180 to load and $180 to unload, and if it's really going to be 95º+, worth it.

No kidding! $180 sounds way reasonable to me to have someone load for you!

pod secured!
i met with a really nice moving company guy yesterday for a full service move but even though it was the cheapest full service quote it's still double the pod + movers for stuff.
