Ok YA'LL. I've just received my third gallon-sized bag of okra in my CSA. I've fried it all until now. Growing up in East Tennessee means that I love me some fried okra. But enough is enough already with the frying. I've never had okra any other way. So: what are your favorite okra recipes?

I've made the Okra gumbo from the PPK blog at three or four times and I love it! Cheap, easy and it makes a ton.

Grr--totally silly of me to forget about reading that recipe!!! Yes, I'll need to try it. Plus, I also got black-eyed peas in my CSA, so I'll use those as the "bean" component. Very friendly.

I'm not sure about pickling... about the only thing that I like fermented is beer and various cabbages, haha. :) However, I did make Isa's Gumbo and it is cooling on the stove now... smells so good! I may make Bryant Terry's fried okra recipe (with the lime vinagrette). Has anyone tried that?

That tofu scramble looks awesome! And I think I'll be making gumbo a lot more often now, I was really pleasantly surpised by how awesome it was :)

BUMPITY BUMP to say that the kid and i love okra AND WE LOVE IT SLIMY. We made extra-slimey chinese-style okra last night and it was mucilagen-icious.

There is a great recipe in The Ethnic Vegetarian for corn and okra étouffée. That's how we usually roll with okra. Pickled is also amazing.
