Sally Ride has died

Im so sad about this. She was only 61. She apparently had pancreatic cancer.

What an amazing, special woman.

I was really sad when I heard this. I wanted to be an astronaut when I was little.

Didn't we all? I remember playing a space shuttle video game all the time because I totally wanted to be an astronaut.

I always thought she had the best name for an astronaut.

I can't help but find it...odd? Sally Ride died on Amelia Earhart's birthday. One of those interesting cosmic connections.

Close, but Amerlia Earhart's birthday was July 24 and Sally Ride died yesterday.

I just heard for the first time on the radio today that Sally Ride was also gay.

So boo pancreatic cancer, but yay positive female and LGBT role models!

Also, Sally Ride apparently has a sister whose name is Bear Ride.

(I swear I didn't make that last factoid up.)
