His sister sure loved her lentils today though!

Maybe he likes the game of refusing food. I know its different because there is concern for his growth, but with my charge I offer a food and if he won't eat it I put it away and try again later. And my nephew will eat anything dipped in ketchup. Including fruit. (ew)

@sr, how old are the munchkins? Sometimes the food-throwing/refusal can just become sorta routine, even to the point where they refuse things which they actually enjoy. Also, if you think he'd actually drink smoothies, you could make them with the formula. If he likes yogurt, you might be able to add things both seen (like fruit or cereal) and unseen (like flax oil) in there.

Yes! Yogurt is a good thing to sneak fattier foods into. I always mix cashew butter in with yogurt and ground hemp seeds. Pureed banana is a good one too. Good luck!!

Today was such an annoying food day. I am just deflated from it.

The granola idea went south this morning. He would not even touch the effing yogurt I put it in. He has never refused yogurt. I also mixed in pureed raspberries and banana and he noticed the color was pink so I think that is why he wouldn't eat it. Then I served him granola in milk with ground seeds. He had about half of it then out of the clear blue sky he decided he didn't like it. So I gave him a little plain yogurt and he ate that. He asked for more so I mixed fruit into it and he would not touch the rest of it. So flippin annoying.

Lunch I served him leftover meatballs from last night, he would not touch them. He had some veggies and goddess dressing, yogurt (gurt! LOL) with cashew butter and flax, bread with cashew butter.
a strawberry apple pouch while walking through whole foods. Then I found the granola that tofulish told me about, it was in the bulk bins. I let him try it and he seemed to like it. He had a few bites.

Snack: fruit and veggies pouch. freeze dried strawberries. a few bites of hummus on sprouted grain bread. Lame.

Dinner: Ignored the meat balls I offered him, even though he gobbled them last night. Ate about 2 strips of tempeh bacon (one success, new food), tons of broccoli and peas dipped in goddess dressing, sprouted grain bread with hummus, some seed bread from whole foods, a few navy beans. He ignored a creamy tomato soup I made too. Then drank a little soy milk.

I guess I have to just chalk it up to he just wasn't that hungry today.

I'm a little sad, today is what I would call our real first day of weaning. After guineapiglet eats she usually wants to eat but today after dinner she got up and crawled off to play with no hint of wanting to nurse.

B: sliced fresh apricots and puffs
L: Hillary's veggie burgers in mini pita pockets (I love this stuff. I'm really into giving processed meat analogs to kids but this stuff is made out of millet, quinoa, sweet potato, spinach, onion, physillum, salt, coconut oil and sunflower oil. A pretty darn good ingredient list and gpiglet loved it)
D: we had brunch for dinner broccoli frittata and butternut squash waffles

I am guilty of feeding babynut mostly plain veggies, fruit, tofu, and peanut butter for the past two days. So today I made her baked falafel and hummus which thankfully she enjoyed for lunch and dinner. She has started ignoring the broccoli I offer but tried blackberries at lunch and really got excited. You should see this kid eat strawberries and blackberries, like they're going out of style.

The Emperor ate black eyed peas today! He said they were "not beans" and also I fed some to the Magician (who chewed and swallowed them, whoa) which sells E on pretty much anything.

He also had a ton of the same salad he refused last night for lunch today.

And also, I need to post this just because it is incredible to me. Here is what E, an average sized almost 3 year old ate for breakfast today:

3 slices of whole grain toast with EB and nooch
An entire plain 6oz soy yogurt
A glass of vanilla soy milk
About 2 oz blueberries
Some watermelon

And then he ate almost half of the bowl of cereal (some kashi thing... Some of them seem to be vegan, some not) I was eating.

An hour later he wanted snack. Oh my freaking gee.

E is going through another growth spurt isn't he? So cool to hear how well he is doing!

Breakfast: noochy quinoa balls and organic strawberries.
Snack: Veggies!
Lunch: Boca chick'n in a wrap with salad, guac and peppers. Coconut milk floes from TJ's for dessert (teething!)
Dinner: Black bean and quinoa tortillas with the last of the guac, mushrooms and organic spinach. Frozen banana and strawberry for dessert.

B: toast with avocado, soy yogurt with granola, blueberries (just kind of picked - we had to eat before she was really hungry in order to get to an appointment)
S: bread with hummus, cat cookies and about half a strawberry Amande
L: leftover tempeh helper, cucumbers
S: strawberry applesauce (she loves this stuff!)
D: stuffed peppers filled with a quinoa/tvp/black bean/spinach filling and topped with Daiya, roasted cauliflower (didn't eat very much)
S: about half a cup of blueberries followed by a metric fork ton of snapea crisped (I think she would eat an entire bag if I let her)

Oh yeah Pinko, Ada loves those snap pea crisps!
This was yesterday:
B: pancakes with chia seeds mixed in (ate a whole one and half of one of mine which is a lot for her) strawberries that she didn't touch
L: broccoli hummus on Ezekiel bread, red peppers which she threw on the ground
S: snap pea crisps, fruit cremes, tried a freeze dried raspberry and spit it out (she clearly has a strong dislike for berries)
D: spinach florentine ravioli...she ate two and then had freeze dried mango and a ton of black beans

Yesterday was good for Lu, he ate a fair amount, and didn't turn anything down!

Breakfast- banana with almond butter, strawberries
Snack- coconut milk yogurt
Lunch- lentils with rice and spinach and flax oil mixed in (getting good with a spoon, too), pear half
Snack- nectarine, the rest of the yogurt
Dinner, couscous & quinoa with olive oil, avocado half, and he insisted on another nectarine (furiously pointing at the fruit bowl)

new successful vegetable delivery mechanism! i made polenta with coconut milk and vegetable broth, then pureed in some thawed frozen spinch.

b: half peach, oatmeal with soymilk
s & l: at daycare, but apparently ate a HUGE amount of whatever is was
d: half peach, a couple of plates worth of spinach polenta and tofu squares baked in peanut sauce and green beans (haha, just joking, she didn't eat any green beans)
s: freezie... corn syrup for the win!

today we had:
b: half peach, oatmeal
s: polenta and tofu
s: banana
s: half of mommy's sandwich with grilled veggies
s: mango juice and box of raisins

i guess one of those snacks counts as lunch. she kind of just ate non-stop from breakfast on.

Very funny. I don't know why, but I liked the slam on nutritional yeast.

Do you have a recipe for the noochy quinoa balls or is it from a book? We love all things nooch and quinoa in our house!

man oh man, tzipi is on an eating roll. nothing like the emperor is packing away but still.

on top of everything she ate for lunch, she had for dinner:

two bowls of soup with about a half pound worth of tofu, noodles, broccoli, and carrots
half an avocado
half a peach
cucumber
and
baked potato with marg.

and it's only 6, so i have a feeling we're going to be having a snack before bedtime too.

Littlebird, that polenta, coconut milk and spinach sounds really, really good! I can't believ how much healthy food your little consumed for dinner...Wow.

That Honest Toddler blog post was effing HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I read the one of the 7 steps of night grief too. So funny!!

My little Holmsie did not eat much for the first half of the day but made up for it at dinner.

Breakfast: cheerios with smooshed banana, hemp/sunflower seeds and coconut/soy milk. Sprouted grain toast with EB and sprinkled with flax. Ignored bananas and strawberries.
soy milk

Lunch: broccoli, peas, tomato, cukes dipped in goddess. TJ's Savoury Flavored Tofu (loves this stuff). One bite of enchilada lasagna with guacamole. He devoured this the other night but only had one bite today.

Snack: Hummus on sprouted grain bread (half slice) then he ignored the strawberries, carrot oat cookie, and smoothie. He also had a pouch of carrot, sweet potato and apple.

Dinner: peas, broccoli, tomatoes dipped in goddess, sunshine burger, tofu frittata dipped in kethcup, baked potato fries, baked polenta fries. He cleared his plate.
soy milk

When I look back on his day he actually ate pretty decently for a toddler.

Picky twin ate sauteed cabbage and hummus today! And plums! And more cheerios. That is a million times more variety than he has been eating. However, all normally-not-picky twin really ate was chickpeas. I guess if you're only going to eat one food that's a pretty good one...

B: cereal w/ almond milk, and two fruit snack bars
L: gardein beefless sliders, peas, and peaches at daycare
D: waffles with EB and molasses, blueberries and a peach, and 8 oz yogurt
She ate a lot, but not the most balanced of days. Oh well.

Honestly, our quinoa balls are so easy, its almost embarassing. I just add a ton of EB and nooch to the quinoa and then it holds together as balls so that she can eat them with a little less mess (no longer the case as she has now started to fling things).

Breakfast: coconut yogurt, granola and strawberries (yum!) She ate a bunch and then a bunch more when we made a game out of feeding her and Daddy.
Lunch: veggies and edamame hummus and a strawberry banana icepop
Snack: more veggies
Dinner: rice pasta in esme's sauce with peas and the last of the chickenless tenders

Breakfast: half a banana, a few raisins, half piece of quinoa bread with sunflower butter

Snack: green fruit and veggie pouch

Lunch: 7 (!) pieces of veggie sushi, one piece golden sesame tofu (we were at whole foods--I have to buy him his own avocado roll now, he eats too much to share mine--expensive taste!)

Snack will probably be yogurt with almond butter mixed in, dinner will be pinto beans, kale, and gluten free cornbread (this kid loves cornbread).

B: banana with peanut butter, avocado chunks, strawberries

L: a ton of steamed sweet potato, black eyed pea and tempeh bean balls (thought I'd try since tempeh helper was so popular). She like them alright, but the sweet potato was the star of the show. I also cooked kale and was going to offer it, but my partner ate all of it before she woke up from her nap.

D: probably a repeat of lunch with a green veggie
