I listened to this song constantly, somehow I always manage to forget about it afterwards (LOL) I guess trying to grab a guitar or some other instruments and start bamming it really loud to imitate Call Me Maybe and it will eventually go away.
Or just don't listen to it. Listen to classical may help, IMHO.

2012 will forever be known as the year of the world's catchiest songs. It must be a government conspiracy to alter our brain wave patterns. There's no reason someone like me should absolutely love a song like "Call Me Maybe".

This song is basically always stuck in my head. Ugh. The main reason for this is that my housemates had it on repeat when it first came out. Then they got together with some of our friends and made a ridiculous videoclip.

Me too! "Call me maybe" is such terrible grammar that I'm imagining a girl telling someone to call her "maybe" like calling someone "baby", like it's a nickname she wants. I hope that's what the song is about.
Call me Ishmaybe.

Well I'm back from the shore, and, fun fact, Call Me Maybe is one of the only five songs they play on the boardwalk.

Haha, nah, I'm not in the videoclip cos I'm a curmudgeon who never leaves the house. Two of my housemates are though, one of whom is the last person you see in that clip. The person in the glasses is someone I know a bit but we're not close mates or anything. His tumblr is pretty great though!

There are a few spoofs on the internet about this song, and this Australian version seems to be quite straight forward:
"hey I just met you, and this sounds crazy, but here's my number, can you have my baby"
Ughhh, I saw this one recently too. It's basically what mainstream Australian men are like. One of the guys in that videoclip was on Big Brother ages ago, and I think they might both be radio personalities or something? I don't know, I don't pay attention to that sort of thing. Anyway, yuck.
Also, strawberryrock - not surprised that your friend has met at least one of the people, if she's queer and has visited Melbourne, it's highly likely.

I'm about 90% sure I went to high school with one of the singers in this video.
